Alarm doesn't override end time of DND

I have an automatic DND rule set up with 'Alarm can override end time' turned on, but when testing this an alarm sounds but doesn't take the phone out of DND mode. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

Alarm can override end time just means the alarm will sound even if it's before DND end time. Doesn't change the end time you've already set.
