Alarm icon in pull-down settings, what's the deal?

Well, what the heck? Hmmm, I don't use Tasker but do use MacroDroid. Maybe I need to look for a similar setting. Just checked and the similar setting in MacroDroid is this.

Just turned off the "use alarm" option and mine is no longer showing the stupid notification.

Thanks a million to @d4005 for reviving this issue and to @Mathrania for the solution! Going to update the thread I started to help others if they see it over in the Android 12 forum here on AC.

Great that @Mathrania has the solution! I would suggest sending feedback to the Tasker and MacroDroid developers about this -- maybe they can tweak their apps to prevent those notifications from appearing, or at least include a big warning in the app settings to let the user know about it.

I'm thinking it's an Android thing, though. Since we chose to use the alarm option in Tasker and MacroDroid, the OS treats it as an alram as it should. I'm not sure how a developer could make their app override that specific thing since it's the alarm part built into Android causing the notification. But, I might be completely wrong aince that's certainly happened before. :)

This thread is a testament to how people can work together to solve a problem with their phones. Nice bit of sleuthing, people!

Good point -- in that case, a prominent warning in that setting menu might be the best way to go!

I have this alarm toggle in my pull down settings but I have no idea what it's connected to. When I look in the clock app I have no alarms. Last night it was showing "Sun 09:00" and now today, after 9am it's showing Sun 21:00 (9pm tonight). At 9am it didn't trigger an alarm and no doubt at 9pm tonight it won't either. But I don't get why it's highlighted as if it's turned on. When I short press it nothing happens, but when I long press it, also nothing happens. It just seems to be confused about life. Aren't we all? But if I wanted it to turn on/off alarm it isn't doing anything - so it's lying to me about being on and having an alarm set and not letting me unset it.

So confused.

I bet if I wanted an alarm set I could go into the clock app and set one - that's worked for years.

I don't blame you. I have the same problem too right now. What do I do?

There was a solution that applied to me in the first page of this thread. The messages with the dark-mode screenshot and a red line around a setting.

Just found this post. I've had this problem for some time, but I have neither of the apps listed earlier in this thread.

Went through Google One support to see if they could help. Since in safe mode this issue doesn't occur, they advised it's a problem with a 3rd party app. Their suggestion was to delete or disable, one by one, each of my apps, restart the phone, and see if the issue is fixed. I have over 200 apps on my phone, so that's a pretty tall task. I did it with some newer apps I had installed, but since this has been occurring since January, it doesn't seem to be related to that. Tonight I even tried uninstalling Tasks, after seeing that Tasker was an impacted app. No help.

If I remove the alarm pill from the notification area, will that keep it from showing on my lock screen?

I finally fixed my issue. Did a hard reset, and the phantom alarm no longer shows up now.

I'm glad you got it sorted and posted your solution. That will be helpful to other members. :)
And really, the reset wasn't that tough. I was really dreading it, but had use of my phone back within 15 minutes, and all of my apps reinstalled and in their right places in less than 2 hours

Excellent!

Glad I found this thread. In my case it was an app called ISS on Live that was seeing these alarms based on when the space station was going to have a visible pass over my location.

I'm glad I found this. I don't run any of the aforementioned apps, but at least I kinda knew what was happening. So I ran a system trace and discovered that for me, the issue was the PureVPN app. I have no idea what it was doing or why, but once I deleted it, the alarm tile is normal and behaving as we'd all expect.
Great community!

I had the same issue for years (or at least it feels that way) but didn't have any of the apps mentioned in this thread and I was too lazy to delete one app at a time to find the culprit. To make things even more annoying, there's even a settings section for alarms and reminders to disable apps from sending alarms and reminders in the background, but that didn't fix it. Today I finally was bored enough to go through my apps and delete ones I don't use to start with. I FOUND THE CULPRIT.

It was an app I must have downloaded a year or two ago called "My Diary" which has 4.8 stars on the Google Play Store so it seemed safe....I only used it once and then forgot about it, but uninstalling it fixed my alarm problem. Just to make sure, I re-installed it and the issue came back. For me, it looked like an alarm was always set for 8pm or 8am (whichever was next) unless I had an actual alarm set in between the current time and the next 8oclock alarm.

Although I had apparently gone through the Android settings to prevent notifications from that app, the internal app settings still had notifications enabled which apparently pushed them up to the alarm pill. Disabling notifications from both inside the app and from Android settings and then force-stopping and re-opening the app also fixed the issue, but I emailed the App Developer anyway to let them know how obnoxious this is and to please for the love of God change this behavior.

Thanks for the advice everyone -- if only there was a better way than uninstalling one app at a time......

It seems generally, the culprit is some kind of tasker/organisational app, but it seems like the app in question changes from person to person. Best way of checking is to go to the play store, then to Manage apps and device. Check which apps have recently been installed or updated, and remove task-based apps one by one.

I found the ISS app caused it for me as well. Removed the app, and the alarms are gone.

Amazing... This comment got me thinking and I sensible deleted apps that I have recently installed that I know use time of some sort of alarm... First Trello - nothing. Second, my gym app 'Alpha Progression' which has rest timers, and boom! The ghost alarm disappeared straight away. Thanks everyone for the discussion!
