All about Incredible batteries (Replacements, Charging..ect)

Please post a pic. I gotta know what that looks like!

I would love too, but I don't know how to post a pic. Don't you need a photobucket acct or some sort of host to post a pic. If anyone can tell me how to insert a pic from my computer I'll show you what I did with my 9630 tour battery. Help please...

Rear battery door cut out.

Please try to give me a lil latitude explaining what I did to my 9630 Tour and how I'm explaining it.
First, I inserted the extended battery:

Second, I added the extended battery door:

Third, I cut out the back of the Case-Mate "clip on case cover" to accommodate the extended battery door. (that's why the hole is so large) In the Incredible's situation I will only cut out the size of the battery in the Incredible's stock back door. I will also try to keep it semi tight to hold the battery slightly.

Then I will assembled it all together. I should add a total of about 2mm of battery hanging out the back.

If their is a snap on phone cover then I'll add that and cut it out. Everything should be about flush by then. I hope I have explained this in a easy way to understand. If you take your time and do it with finesse you will end up with a good looking install.

After talking to Seidio and VZW its going to be a while before we see the 3500 with the back door. PLUS the ERIS 3500 batt is 50 bucks. I'm really not into the bling factor. I want a phone that I can use like a rented mule. Run her hard and all day pulling her weight.

If anyone has any questions just ask. I ya want another picture view let me know. Anything to help you guys out if your willing to have a lil project and make a powerhouse of a phone.

Seido has come out with a 1700 that will not require another door. HTC(PCD) has also made a battery with and door that measures 2150. I am currently using the regular HTC standard batt that is 1500. That batt seems to get me through the day w/o issues. But really people who now a days doesn't have a power plug everywhere they go?

Who wants to be tied down to a cord all day and the 1700 is actually a 1750 that is built for the Eris. That battery has been around for awhile and yes it does fit under the stock Incredible back cover. The standard Incredible battery is a 1300 mAH battery.

(HTC(PCD) has also made a battery with and door that measures 2150.) Have you got a link that will show that available, in stock or ready for shipment?

VZW has a Incredible pre release form floating around the internet about that battery, but they have no idea when it will be available. P/N they have, battery they do not. Absolutely no eta from VZW or Seidio. Seidio has issues with the back cover for the 3500 mAH. I was told weeks to a couple months. Verizon is clueless, they tell ya to put task killer on your Incredible. You cant trust anything they say for that fact alone. I'm not trying to burst your bubble or sound like a jerk. All of what I just wrote is in the body of this entire thread. Welcome to the club, and find me that link. I would love to see it. I'll be buying one today if what you say is true. :)

I may just buy that energizer portable charging system.
I think it's the xp2000.
I have to travel to baltimore next weekend to photograph the lacrosse finals for college and won't have access to an outlet for a bit.

Amazon.com: Energizer XP2000 Universal Rechargeable Power Pack: Cell Phones & Service

You'll need a headband to keep it close to the phone at all times. It'll have the look of a miners light. You'll be the coolest looking dude out there! LMAO!!! Ya may want to consider some tin foil hat too, so all that EMF doesn't mess with your head. :)

Talked to a rep on Seidio's chat today about the 3500 mAh battery coming from them.

Customer151: Any ETA on the 3500mAh battery for the Incredible?
Gary: We do not have an official ETA yet, but it should be somewhere around 3 weeks.
Gary: The best thing you can do as of now is to sign up for our notification list here: Seidio - Your Single Source for Premium Smartphone Accessories
Customer151: and price?
Customer151: I assume $99 because of the $49 price of the 1750mAh battery
Gary: About $70

I get between 7 and 9 hours on my battery. I'm saving my pennies.

Yes Please do. I had the same thoughts after having probs w/ the extended battery I got today. Read next post.....:(

Good pics on the BB. Cant wait to see what you do to the DI.

Well I got the 2150mA HTC battery w/ the TP2 extended back from the vzw website.
No surprise:
1. Battery fit in DI well
2. Battery was thicker, like 2x the 1300mA
3. Back for the TP2 did not fit on the DI(No Duh)
4. Back for the DI did not fit on it w/ the 2150mA in
4. Phone ran off the battery which came 2/3 charged

Surprise!
1. With back off and 2150 in, I could get the black silicone case on pretty well. Looked a lot better than duct tape but not perfect.
2. The battery indicator, on the notification bar, has exclamation point in it.
3. under menu>settings>about phone>battery>battery status says "unknown" instead of "charging" or "not charging"
4. The battery will not charge in the phone when plugged in!

I think I'm just going to return the set

Wow imagine that a battery not designed for the phone won't work.....honestly wait till they get the real stuff out, it shouldn't be that much longer and you have survived just fine up to now. You risking potentially damaging your phone doing that kind of stuff.

Darn. I did something very similar to you, but ordered the Tilt 2 battery instead. I'll let you guys know what happens when I get it, but if I get the same results you do with the battery not charging in the phone and all that jazz, I'm gonna return it and go with a TP2 OEM 1500 mAh instead to hold me over till late July.

This really stinks...

Yea I know. I'm not totally surprised it didn't work. I guess I wanted to test just how interchangeable these batteries are for the various phones. The funny thing though was that the 2150mA battery worked and charged fine in my son's Eris?!?! Strange compatibility. You are right, I will just have to wait for the official batteries and backs to be released.

On a side note: I stopped at the VZW store at the mall yesterday and the sales girl there highly recommended Juice Defender free. She has been running it on her Moto Droid she got 1 month ago w/ factory installed 2.1. Swears it has helped lengthen her battery life 25-30%. So far seems OK on y DI after a day. No problems and noticeable boost in life.

Something is wrong, have you turned the device on and off with that battery in? If the phone can handle a 3500 mAH surely the 2150 shouldn't set off some technical error. A battery is a battery. The exclamation point may mean the phone is just confused. Charge rates and discharge rates are different between the batteries, but the phone may have to reset its 0 to 100% charge span. Its called the hysteresis. Basically a numerical curve dependent on milliamp v. voltage in this case. {Hysteresis is a strongly nonlinear phenomenon which occur in many industrial, physical and economic systems. The wording `strongly nonlinear' means that linearisation does not encapsulate the observed phenomena}.

How do you know that it is not charging? I would take a volt meter to the battery periodically and look to see nothing is happening. The +/- poles are the two farthest apart from each other on the battery. If the battery is not charging than its one of two things. The phone or the battery is hosed. What do you have the phone plugged into? The computer or the wall usb charger? If I'm not mistaken the milliamp charge rate is greater with the wall charger than with the computer usb port to charge with.

I'd do a little more troubleshooting before making any hasty or "I wish I hadn't done that" moves. Just my 2 cents, I always have to know whats wrong before making a move. ;) Good luck! :D It just occurred to me that maybe the phone is polarity sensitive and the poles are backwards on the battery. Do you have a volt meter that will tell you the polarity of the battery compared to the original battery?

If I had to take a stab as to why the battery worked in the eris (charging etc) and not in the incredible, it probably has to do with one or more of the contacts not making the proper connection. At least thats what it sounds like. IIRC, the battery has 4 contact points. Not all of those are + and -, I beleive some are used for balance charging and probably to read the status of the battery. This would explain why the exclamation point was there...likely because it couldn't read the status or voltage level of the battery or couldn't read it correctly, and if there is circuitry in the charging system to make sure it is balanced charged, would also explain why it wouldn't charge.

The phone isn't going to care what milliamp the battery is, only what voltage. Its really just equatable to storage capacity I think.

I remember that I had a Razor Phone several years ago, and I plugged a charger from my blackberry into it and it informed me that it was an "Unautorized charger" and refused to charge the battery. Not saying that is the issue, but it put an exclamation point on the batter icon too.

this battery issue is driving me insane!!! i got 6 hours yesterday - 6! i had a conference all day and had no chance to recharge the stupid thing. i had to turn it off at noon to try and preserve battery life as i was going to a hockey game while i was downtown. somehow, it turned back on in my pocket and drained even further so when i caught it at 2:00, i turned it off again. a minute later, i'm getting email. so i had to pull the battery to get it to stay off and not use the phone again until i was making plans to meet people for the game. thankfully i still have my BB Tour and i was able to use that for work calls / email.

i can't even reliably use my phone for a work day now. that's just ridiulous! it spends as much time on the charger as it does in my pocket.

Personally I think the decision to put a 1300mAH battery was a corporate decision. They all had to know what poor life the battery/phone combo had. It makes me wonder if VZW and Seidio both work with HTC in projects like this. My reasoning is... This crappy batt/phone combo is going to make Seidio and VZW a lot of money in batteries. That's how they improve profits. The phone is a wash, but the accessories are where the money is made. Granted people commit to a contract. That's a money maker there, but this particular situation appears to be man made to me. I feel cheated. VZW finally puts their ass in the front of the pack phone wise, but screwed the consumer at the same time and make us feel good about it. Gee look at me and my new Incredible, I cant go more than 6 hours without a charge, but Verizon and Seidio will accept my hard earned 50-75 bucks for a battery that will get me through the day. It's a conspiracy... I'm telling ya the truth! Numbers don't lie... Can anyone see the profit being made here? I haven't seen or heard one good thing about battery life and why would customer service reps be trained to tell us to use Task Killer? That is a straight out acknowledgment that they knew the batteries suck... I'm done, time for some apple pie and ice cream... Peace :-)

Can anyone with the Seidio 1750 mAh extended battery please tell me how you like it? Does it really add ~33% more life?
