All contacts and stock dialler lost in Nougat Android 7 update

[AC Question]

I updated my OP3 to Android Nougat 7 today. I have lost my contact app, unable to use a dialler, neither the incoming or outgoing calls are getting registered nor i am able to save any contacts. I have deleted and re-added my google account. Truecaller is working and shows all contacts but phone dial/incoming list is missing from there as well.
I am absolutely inconvenienced. Please Help

same here. Also OP3. Contacts sync not working. All other apps work. Contacts app is there but not working.

Hi, I had the exact same problem as this with more things not working like messages and phone calls. The only way I could fix it was to factory reset my phone and then reinstall my latest back up. I believe the OP3 does back ups automatically to your Google account before you do an update so you should be able to get all of your data back again. This worked for me and now it's running sweet as a nut. Hope this helps!

Same as others, excitedly installed the Nougat update to my OP3, now half my contacts are missing! Despite changing the settings to include All, but no option on the list to include SIM contacts, only Phone and other email/social media accounts.

Just do a factory reset then everything will work fine. I had the same issue and now it is working absolutely fine.

Had the same issue but this is what I did: Settings>Apps>three vertical dots>show system>contact storage>storage>clear data and clear cache. Restart phone and it should work

Did not work with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge!!!

I will have to update contacts from my backup file. I also have MyBackUp Pro but that will not RESTORE from old file!!

Very frustrating to say the least!!

Problem was solved after setting up WIFI connections and allowing GMAIL and SAMSUNG ACCOUNTS to SYNC.

Also remember to go to SETTINGS under CONTACTS and set CONTACTS to DISPLAY <> ALL
