All my sensors stopped functioning, hardware or software problem? Any fix?

So all my sensors except for the light stopped functioning. I'm not sure if it is a software or hardware problem. I've noticed this after updating to 4.4.4 for T-Mobile.

I've tried:
Factory resetting
Clearing cache
Making sure everything is connected inside my phone
Cleaning out the proximity sensor (I couldn't pop out the earpiece, not sure if that affects it or not)

Keep in mind my phone is not rooted. This might sound stupid, but do you think if I root it, there could be a fix?

I have the exact same problem with my note 3. After I updated to android 5. Before the update everything worked perfectly... Anyone has some idea's? (no cache wipe or factory reset etc. already tried)
