All things considered, Nexus 6 or M8 GPE?

This is probably a silly question since this is the Nexus 6 forum, but as the title says, which would you go with? I ask because I see that the M8 GPE is more readily available. Although internal storage is 32 GB, SD card expansion is possible. It has the 2 front-firing BoomSound speakers, and a 1080P screen, which would be easier on the battery. If you've had the M8 GPE, how's the battery life? Did anyone here go from one device to the other?

The Nexus 6 is still an option of course, I just wanted to get opinions. Is anyone waiting on the M9 as an option? Thoughts appreciated.

I personally would not get the M8 with the M9 just around the corner. I would go with the Nexus 6 if choosing between that and the M8. I had the M7 for a few weeks and didn't like that version of Sense.....has it gotten better?, probably, I just prefer as stock an experience as possible which the GPE has.

Decisions 😀

Well, if I'd have gotten the M8, it would be the stock version, of course, from Google Play, so it wouldn't have Sense on it. I also know the M9 is coming out, and I'd wait for a stock version of that phone too, if one becomes available. I just thought of the M8 as an option because it has the expandable storage, and we all know the Nexus doesn't have expandable storage; nor do we know if the M9 will have it.

For storing pictures, music and videos, yes. But NEVER count on external storage for apps - most of them don't run properly or don't run at all from the SD card.

Personally? If the battery is non-replaceable, the phone's not on my list. I'd probably have an M8 now if not for that. (I like a company that lets you root and ROM without voiding the warranty on the power switch. Running Linux without su is next to sacrilege.)

Per this site

Today is a sad day for Google Play edition (GPe) devices. The*HTC One M8*has been dropped from the*Google Playstore. With its departure, there are no remaining GPe devices left for purchase.

I will say I was uncertain about getting the nexus 6 but since I picked one up a week ago I've been thrilled with it. Great screen and speed and speakers. The battery is much better than my nexus 5. I love the 6 inch screen. I use it all the time for google drive spreadsheets at work. The extra space even made my typing more accurate. I'm very pleased.

Good point about the extra keyboard space; definitely useful.
