Alternatives for getting Homescreen to Landscape

This may help others out who want to use the homescreen in landscape mode as well. Are there any basic methods to doing this without rooting/jailbreaking?

I downloaded a launcher app and it worked but it also changed my background and my icons so I just deleted it. Can the launcher apps be set to keep everything on my Nexus the same but *only* allow landscape orientation? I don't want it to change other features on my tablet or use up a lot of battery if it needs to be running at all times.

Any advice for me and others looking to get landscape mode?

Nova Launcher looks very stock. However you'll still need to setup your wallpaper and icons (this just takes a few moments, why is it an issue?). Most launchers will make you do this.

I think GoLauncher has some sort of home screen importer, dont' think it worked very well though and I don't really like that launcher on ICS or Jelly Bean either.

Thanks. I downloaded both launchers just now and was just having too much trouble getting everything else back to default.

I did find an app that fixes this though

There is a 7 day trial and the app is about $2.60 to buy. If you choose 'Forced auto' it will adjust the screen automatically from landscape to portrait. You can also set each app to specific orientations, eg Angry Birds always staying in landscape to prevent any issues if the app needs to be in a certain orientation onl.

Does this app work with movies? Right now Hulu+ and movies played through the gallery launch in standard mode =(

When you lower the alerts panel there is a screen orientation lock that does help with Hulu+ go into landscape mode.

Got it downloaded and will play later. I also downloaded Apex Launcher which offers a rotation feature. Seems to have lotsa goodies but haven't played w/it yet either.

Awesome sauce! I will tinker with it when I get home. PDA Net may help with a lot but it doesn't work with downloading apps =(

The Rotate app is awesome! Now my 7's home screen actually goes to landscape! Thanks so much for the heads up :-)
