I'm sure this has been asked but cant find it at the moment. Before I pulled the trigger on this, can somebody absolutely verify that this has the okay Google always listening feature? Even when the screen is dark?

Yes.

Yep, as others have said it's always listening. But have some fun with it. Customize your catchphrase to something personalized.

"Computer, Listen up!"
"Kirk to Enterprise."
"Open a socket, Droid Turbo."
etc.

My catchphrase is "Obey me, Droid Turbo!"

this doesn't say anything about screen off recognition. Hmmmm.

Open your App drawer and tap on Moto, then on gear icon in the upper right hand corner (Settings). It should be in there. Otherwise, perhaps it's a standard feature of Lollipop?

The feature started with the 2013 Motorola lineup (Moto X, Droid Ultra/Maxx/Mini) while Motorola was under Google's ownership. It's since become a feature in Android, but it requires the phone to have a low power dedicated processor to do the always listening analysis without much impact on battery life.
