Always on display not as good on S7

Not sure if anyone noticed it's not as bright on the S7 or Edge. I had the Note 7 and when you put a background image with whichever clock you choose you could actually see it on the AOD. But on my Edge 7 it only looks great when you're selecting the setup you want. As soon as you use it the display dims a bit and you can't really see the background you selected with the clock.

Not a big deal but annoying.
 
And it doesn't have 3rd party app notifications, either. They're hopefully 'matching' the version of the Note 7 when Nougat comes along, but for now, AOD is turned off on my S7E.
 
Mine is changing the brightness of the characters as the ambient light, it is using the sensor as the automatic brightness. No issue here
