Fire HD 10 launcher inadvertently deleted. Device starts but, without launcher, stops right there. Any thoughts?
Hi, welcome to AC!Fire HD 10 launcher inadvertently deleted. Device starts but, without launcher, stops right there. Any thoughts?
I used XGA developers Tool Box to customize Fire HD Features. I attempted to replace Amazon Launcher with another launcher. Files were deleted, but not replaced.
The tablet (Fire HD 10) does not acknowledge a hard start. There is no prompt from a 'system recovery screen.' Attempts to restart fail because the laucher files have apparently been trashed. It appears I need to replace missing Amazon launch files or do a full system re-format, if possible.
I've used the Fire Toolbox mentioned, and it's a great tool. It's a non-root tool - has nothing to do with rooting the tablet. It does, by automating the adb command process, make system changes and disables any or, if you wish, all Amazon default apps. Including the launcher. But it doesn't actually remove or delete them.Sounds like you had rooted it and deleted the launcher through that toolbox , you'll need to reinstall the firmware again and probably best bet for that is xda forums
Ahh so your familiar with itI've used the Fire Toolbox mentioned, and it's a great tool. It's a non-root tool - has nothing to do with rooting the tablet. There is the option to disable OTA updates, because Amazon regularly sends small updates to re-enable a lot of those features, like the launcher.
I tried running Nova on my HD 8, but after a week or two, some update would go through re-enabling the default Fire Launcher, and I'd have to use the Toolbox again to disable the Fire Launcher to use Nova again. I actually don't mind the normal Fire updates or Amazon services so I didn't want to disable the updates. I ended up just living with the Fire Launcher as is.
I'm not sure how the OP ended up deleting the Fire Launcher, as that's not usually part of the process.
As suggested, best bet is to ask in the Fire Toolbox thread in the XDA forums. The developer, Datastream33, is good about responding.
Yeah. The tool is fairly easy to work with. All you have to do is be sure USB debugging is on. Kind of hard to mess things up permanently, but obviously not impossible.Ahh so your familiar with it
Still sounds like going have to flash the firmware on it especially way OP describe it , but thats exactly why I pointed to xda forums as they deal with this kinda of stuff.
I hear you !Yeah. The tool is fairly easy to work with. All you have to do is be sure USB debugging is on. Kind of hard to mess things up permanently, but obviously not impossible.
