Amazon says Amazon Prime works on Android tablets and Phones (not really). There is an official app for Amazon Prime. I got it working on my Galaxy S3 phone but not having more sucess on my Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). My Amazon account says it is compatible but I cannot figure it out as it won't show up on my list even though it is listed. The App is available through Amazon and also Google Playstore. If I or anyone else gets it working properly please post how you got it working on the tablet.

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

Humm... is it available on the Play Store? I though this would only be available through Amazon's... Curious.

Anyway, it seems the tablet app for the Amazon Store has not been updated and will not let you download to a tablet, but since these are sideloaded anyway, if you get the phone version it will work on your tablet as well.

UPDATE: I just checked, and the version on the Play Store was updated in March and is only available for GoogleTV devices.

Yes... Sort of. You download the shopping app and then download it through that it works a bit like flash plug-ins

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

I finally chatted with Amazon on my desktop pc. The steps are:
Install latest Amazon Shopping App first.
Install Amazon App
Scroll down to my apps, cloud
Find Amazon Prime
If you do not have it you can start the process through Google Play or Amazon itself.
I have video working perfectly on my tablet right now.

This is good to know, because GP tells me that the Amazon shopping app is not compatible with my tablet (only my Gs3 phone)
I have been running Firefox in desktop with Phony but it has not been too stable.

When I saw this today I tried again to get the Amazon app directly from Play but was again rebuffed, so I will delete the version I have and sideload the updated app. (which says updated Sept 9, 2014)

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

Hi, I tried to run prime on my Note 10.1 without success. Amazon App for Tablet from GP was installed. So I uninstalled it and tried GP's amazon app but this is signed as incompatible. The solution :installiert from amazon Appstore and it will work.

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

I would recommend if anyone having problems getting Amazon Prime to work is to go into a chat with a customer service rep with Amazon. Make certain you are logged in. If possible try chatting from a desktop or laptop computer. This way worked for me.

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

All so wierd. I never have a problem watching Prime videos on my Tablet, just use Dolphin Browser, with Jet Pack, and Flash apk sideloaded.

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

Works just fine on my tablet...just make sure you have all three apps installed (Amazon, Amazon App store and Prime video) and have them all logged into the same Amazon account. You CANNOT use the Amazon for Tablets app off the play store...get the stock Amazon phone app off the Amazon app store for your tablet!

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

There seems to be a fairly inflexible procedure to get the various apps:

Before I could sign in to Amazon.com, I had to enable cookies on the basic Internet browser.
Before I could install the Amazon app, I had to install Appstore.
Before I could install Appstore, I had to tell the tablet to permit installation of apps from Unknown Sources.
After I installed Appstore, I could install the Amazon app. (The one showing the shopping cart.)
After I installed the Amazon app, I had to use it to search Amazon for "Prime Instant Video app."
After I installed Prime Instant Video, I opened it and it took me to a screen with a generic listing of videos for streaming.
I tapped the onscreen menu icon (three horizontal bars in the top left corner), and got a drop-down showing my Amazon Prime watchlist and my video library of films and shows I had purchased. I went to the watchlist and started streaming one of the videos. It seemed to work fine, but I shut it off after a few seconds because I wasn't ready to watch that particular video yet.

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

After I installed everything to get working, it created an icon Amazon Instant Video. I can find the icon by going to the I's on the list. You can also drag the icon to your main screen. Launches right away to Amazon Prime Videos. It works the same way on My Note 8 and my Samsung S3 phone.

Re: Amazon Prime Works?? ( Yes and Not)

I was glad to see the Prime Instant Video app.

S4 Phone installed and worked.
Samsung 7" Tablet installed and worked.
Note 10.1 got quite convoluted.

The Prime Instant Video app installed OK. When launched it said it needed to install Amazon Shopping.
The Amazon Shopping wouldn't install.

I knew I had the "old version" so I uninstalled it. The new version at Amazon refused to install. It said already installed.

Tried launching Prime Instant Video app again. This time it automatically installed the new Amazon Shopping.
Now everything works.

It seems that everybody that got it working had to go about it a different way.
