Amazon Warehouse deals on Moto X Pure Edition

Re: Good deal on Pure

I got in on the warehouse deal: 16gb $339 - 15% = $288 1 day shipping. Then I got 20% off for a defective charger... $288 - $57 = $231. Contacted moto and they will send a new charger under warranty. Phone is brand new, my guess is they plugged it in, saw that it wasn't working and sent it back. 32 gb would be nice but I can deal with 16 for awhile. Combined storage works fine accept TWRP can't find anything in the new location. Hopefully that is resolved soon so I can go back.

For $231, I'd make 16 gb work lol. Good stuff!

What's a warehouse deal? Is that for a refurbished one?

Scratch n dent returns most likely. Prob one's that have speaker crackling problems or power buttons that require hard presses.
I refuse to buy used phones. You NEVER know what you are going to get. Someone could have done hammer tests on the screen to or did a water test with. Yeah, no thanks.

If you look at the listings, they tell you how damaged the devices are. They run from "good" condition to "like new." Some have blemishes, some only have signs that the packaging is not new. Admittedly, I don't know what testing the units go through before they're relisted, or if they go through any testing at all.

You are afforded the same return policy so you have time to gauge the deficiencies of the device.

I, too, was once of the "I refuse to buy used phones" club. I took a chance on some units, and that changed my mind.

I mean, you also run the risk of getting a brand new flub of a device that you'd then have to return...the way I see it, if saving money on a device is important, warehouse deals can be the way to go.

I understand what you are saying and while there are many things I'd consider buying used, a phone is just not one of them. I'd just rather not have a phone that was previously torn apart unless it was done at the manufacturing plant. Because of this, I have never paid for phone insurance because you generally get repaired phones. I'd just assume buy another new one.
I've never had any phone claims in my 17yrs of cell ownership. I buy new every 2-3yrs.

I have bought many used warehouse deal phones and haven't had a problem. I always get the damaged package ones. Plus I like Amazon's return policy.

Nice! At least someone did. $111 off brand new is a great price. Wish they had 15% off more often. Bummer on the charger though.
