I’ve gotten used to having a screen protector on my phones for quite some time now. You can’t beat them for protection.

I never use a screen protector. I find them cumbersome and horrible. I just try to look after my phones and I don’t tend to scratch my screens.

Same here..... the only screen protector I've ever used came built into an OtterBox Defender case I used once. Otherwise I'm just careful and have never had a problem. But I always use a good case with a screen protecting lip on it ;)

Yeah, I understand that part. I just don't like the added bulk.
To me it's the case that adds bulk. I rarely, if ever, drop my phone. I use a thin case with a screen protector which works for me.

We're all different though so it's nice we have different choices to customize our needs.

oh yeah I absolutely agree with you about that. No screen protector, and a 5in case is right up my alley. Usually I try to be as careful as possible… but yeah, I have unfortunately dropped my phone a couple of times.

I have a question for people here with a Pixel 5: When you're going to take a selfie portrait picture with multiple people in the shot do you hold your phone the normal portrait style or landscape style? Meaning do you hold it vertically, or horizontally? I had noticed when I go to take selfie portraits with two or three other people, and I'm holding it horizontally, sometimes it blurs out the people in the background thinking that it's only focusing the shot on me. If I go to take the same shot and portrait mode which is vertical of course, the shot will come out just fine. Has anyone ever tried this before? Thanks for any input!

Here's something I just noticed tonight. After I had left Gboard, I noticed the little down arrow in the bottom left of the screen was still there, and showed up on every screen I went to, without the keyboard being there. Restarting the phone made it go away, but I still filed bug report.

Yeah, at first I was thinking it would do something, but then when I realized it didn't, I figured it was the minimize button in Gboard. Very strange! And I haven't been able to recreate it yet.
That sounds more like a one time glitch than a Beta bug, especially if it isn't reproducible.
Let us know if it keeps occuring.

I actually took a selfie this morning in horizontal mode with a group of people. I usually do vertical but it was a bigger group. Took two in a row. No issues with focus or what was showing on the screen.

Saw that the August security update is out, but we won't get that until there's another updated to the Beta, correct?

Right, hopefully a new beta next week and it will come with the security update for August.

one of the few things the next things that I hope the next beta 4 fixes is the weird no notifications on the always on lock screen if you set your screen animations all to .5X.haha and just more app split screen mode reliability and material you theming.

That sounds like a weird bug. I don’t use the always on feature myself but I get why some like it.
The last beta really helped boost the material you options but I’ll gladly take some more of those,

Yeah the material you got better with beta 3/3.1. I just hope that Google continues refining it in general with apps especially. The always on lock screen for notifications is great. I don't have to hit the power button to highlight the lock screen all the time, and I'm always seeing my notifications or the time/ date / weather and everything whenever I need it. I don't have to unlock my phone or highlight my lock screen just to see it. That's just my stance on it.

Yeah I get it. No explanation needed. When I hear a notification come in I just look at the phone and if it's something I want to deal with right then I will. Otherwise if I want to see what's come in when I wasn't looking or listening I just raise the phone and it wakes up to the lock screen, get the time of course some weather info and any notifications.
I sleep in a totally dark room so the always on display no matter how dim would be annoying to me. If I need to get out of bed I just ask the Google girl what time it is and the whole room has a night light now.
Interesting to know how everyone uses their phone screen options.

Haha yes yes you are funny with that! So you have the race to wake and able. The only reason why I never got used to the race to wake feature, is because that I'm so fidgety that I need to hold my phone and every single time I raise it up to view something my screen automatically turns on. Even if I didn't want to turn it on. Basically I want to be able to better control when my screen would turn on and whatnot if that makes sense but that's a very good reasoning behind that haha
