Interesting that the article didn't differentiate between the public Gboard and the beta version which I'm running. Maybe that's why I didn't get the notifications.
Thanks.
I'm running the beta as well, but noticed there was an update available for it this morning.

All right, so check this out. Especially in Android 12 beta 3.1, if you're listening to a streaming music service in the background for example Pandora and you leave it pause but it's still The app is still running in your background, is that eating a battery power? Look at my battery breakdown usage. If I if I swipe away and close down Pandora after I'm done listening and using it, the background usage is only like 2% versus higher. I know that Android does a great job with RAM and holy apps and RAM, but I'm just curious if that would be a better way decrease apps background usage and increase battery power?

This is another thing I noticed. I have Pandora paused all day on my phone and it comes in at number one for battery usage every time. Dismissed the idea at first but now that you brought it up maybe I should be swiping it away to help with battery.

The reason why I bring it up to everyone, is the fact that for Android auto it auto launches my music app obviously. I use Pandora or Sirius XM. Sirius XM per charge uses about 12 to 15% on my battery. Pandora uses a little less so obviously I swapped back to Pandora. With that being said, Pandora is usually the higher battery contender and I know that the Pixel 5s have a big big battery capacity. However I'm just trying to optimize it still to eat at the most amount of battery. That's why I'm also raising this question. I usually swipe it out of RAM just to plan on the safe side but I do that every single time I listen to music.

Yes, I am. I seem to remember someone else mentioning this. Was it Kizzy?
Yes I had them for about 3 days running and were for gboard. I cleared the cache and data and force stopped then rebooted my phone. Got them once more and then they stopped. Loads of people on the official Android beta subreddit are having the same issues. May be worth joining the subreddit if you are doing the beta. Let me get the address.

Yeah, I sometimes look at the Android Beta Subreddit, but it's just too many people with too many comments to me sometimes. lol Android central is easier to follow for me most of the time. Unless I'm having a serious issue with my phone, I usually stick to Android Central forums. I also really hope that Google improves the split screen mode. It's not always smooth. I've reported this issue many times, but especially with Slack and a few other 3rd party apps. I've also reported many times that I hope Google brings back the status bar notification for ringer modes: for ex: you've got to pull down your notification bar just to tell if you're in silent all/vibrate mode. It can get a little annoying.

Do you folks see unrestricted access to camera and continuous battery usage? Can't even change this to optimize. Is this specific to beta. Am not sure how it was before beta.

I have that. I don't see any background battery usage though.

It says at the bottom that app can only be set to unrestricted battery usage.Screenshot_20210805-181115.jpg

I will say that it's nice to have a 2 screen size option, that's for sure... That's usually what the Pixel lineup has always been about... a regular model, than an XL variant. The Pixel 5 was the FIRST Pixel phone to not offer an XL variant. I'm not complaining about a smaller HDL 6" screen though. It's awesomely one-handable.

Looks like bubbles is working now, no longer getting text field blocked by the keyboard. I wonder if it was a Gboard or Messages issue?
