Hmm, I force closed Android WebView and rebooted tonight, and now assistant is working most of the time with my Buds. Occasionally not working, very strange.

I notice when I use the themed icons I don't get the notification dots. Maybe when out of beta that will change.

I noticed that as well. I just turned off Dot notifications and rebooted my Pixel 4a. After restart I turned it on and rebooted the phone again. Don't know if that will help. Time and notifications will tell.
Update: Just sent myself an email. No dot.

This has nothing do with an individual app or VPN service provider. There are major complaints about this in Reddit. So it is a Beta 4 bug that I didn't have on any other beta versions, 11 or 12.

That's not good that there's a brand new bug introduced this late in the game, especially one involving disabling VPN's I hope it's not intentional, I know Big Tech doesn't like VPN's much. They don't want anything to interrupt that juicy flow of data lol.

Absolutely it's a serious bug. It even affects Google Fi VPN service.
I've submitted a bug report, post a couple of comments on Reddit, contacted Google Fi and NordVPN to see if someone there can light a fire in Google's a$$ to release an immediate fix since this a serious compromise of data security, especially banking activity.

Two things with data for semicolon number one, seems to me like the battery game is slower which is better. Maybe it's just me but what does everyone else think? Number two yeah and your display really does use a lot of battery... Thank God though that it is very useful if not one of the most useful notification features ever.

Because internet is down at work, I work from home, I was texting and having phone calls. I was on the phone when a text came through. I was going to respond but the Pixel 4a locked up. After the call I hit the power button then on again (not a restart) and all was fine. This happened twice in several minutes. If it happens again I'll submit a bug report. I'm getting great at that with A12.

So this morning, notifications went back off, so I submitted another bug report, and while it was uploading, I tried it again, and it worked! This is so bizarre. Should I submit a bug report after it works, so they have two different logs to compare?

New bug I found. When I was listening to music, I swiped down on notifications to bring the media player up. When I slide it to the bottom of the screen, it disappeared, but when I tapped on the empty space, it opened the app. //cloud.tapatalk.com/s/6116a7ee5002b/screen-20210813-125651~2.mp4

I had to commute into work for some comparison work. My laptop connects to the company wifi but my Pixel 4a will not. Weird.

I have had some very weird issues with YouTibe Music media player window in the notification area since joining this beta. Very frustrating.

I get notification dots for a few hours after clearing Launcher cache & force stopping Launcher. Then eventually dots stop working again. I reported it to Google on Beta 2 and it's still listed as "New"

I don’t think the themed icons were a thing yet on beta 2. Could be a related issue tho. Using the regular icons I don’t have any issues with the dots.

I use my pixel bud twos all the time, and I will say that the freaking awesome now. Google Assistant the audio controls etc everything works wonderfully. Voice typing responding back to messages all day long, works great.

Hmm, I don't see that update. Do you have a Pixel phone? I thought it was sort of baked in for Pixels.
