Thanks. It wasn't too painful. Worse was my Samsung as I have a 512GB and over 100GB of data on it. Luckily I backed things up for that too but it took a day to restore and login to all my apps.

Yeah , absolutely. Backups are essential! Unfortunately, most people don't do proper backups that's how they get screwed.

Google had a go at me for submitting g a bug report that had nothing to do with the event. You have to submit a bug report to send feedback so I generated one. I ended up emailing them back to remind them that it is impossible to get a bug report while your phone is restarting and restoring itself to factory settings. I reminded them the phone was unusable. Stupid fools.

A good lesson (but painful one) not to install custom launchers, etc. on a beta OS. It has been very stable for me but it is still a beta meaning it might not play nice with certain programs. We’ve all learned the hard way and I’m glad you got it worked out in the end Kizzy.

Absolutely agree with this. I did try Niagara but I reset my phone after beta 1 due to app crashes and set up clean with no launcher. I was just wanting cust icons. I miss them badly and thought lawnchair may be ok. How wrong was I? Anyway best way to test all the new features is to see them as Google intended. So lesson learnt completely and I am sticking with stock.

I've tried about half a dozen third party launchers and they all have the same problem. Hanging up in the app selector. It's not every time and the fix is easy but the OEM pixel launcher is the smoothest without a doubt.

Interesting.

Indeed, I’ve since returned to the pixel launcher as it is working so well, quick and fast. The freeze ups in the app switcher when using 3rd party launchers were just getting to numerous and annoying.

I used to be a tinkerer and try different launchers, icons, etc. but realized, for me, it’s better to stick with stock as it works better overall. That’s one of the best things about iPhone, though it’s a walled garden, it’s apps work together so well it presents a fluid experience. I think Android is finally learning this and working towards a more integrated OS also.

I can’t really tell if android 12 has made any diff. For sure it is no worse, but I’ve had fantastic battery since day one with this device. Going from 11 to 12 I can’t say I see any change, still great!

What I've been marveling at WRT battery life is how long my battery meter stays at 100%.

Same. I usually switch back and forth between Nova Prime and Microsoft launchers but sticking with Pixel launcher for now.

I found this on the Android Beta site > FAQ section. I assume this is still the case?

"You can expect to receive up to two updates automatically per month while enrolled in the program. Note: You will not receive separate monthly security updates while enrolled in the program as they will be part of the beta build."

Never knew that. Makes sense though.
