Android 13 Beta 3

Gestures are supposed to get rid of the need for physical buttons or graphical representations within the user interface. I don't see why they need to dedicate space at the bottom of the screen for a permanent white pill, and in some cases, a whole black bar. It's honestly one of the most useless elements in my opinion, and once I see it, I can't unsee it =/.

There's a persistent black bar when I'm in an app like chrome. It's super annoying.

Getting apps hanging on start. Usually on a splash screen. Seems to be related to wifi somehow. Toggling to LTE sometimes helps. Then toggle back.

I've never not had it since the switch over to gestures from the navigation buttons, but I have been on pixels that whole time (using default pixel launchers). Is it not like this on other Androids?

Just got a message for another beta update. Smaller than yesterday.

I installed Beta 13 a few days ago but was not offered this small update

Samsung devices don't do this, meaning the whole screen is utilized the entire time. No pill, no bar. It's actually quite confusing as to why they would dedicate a strip of screen for something that was actually implemented to get rid of buttons and allow for more of the display to be used as screen, as opposed to being reserved for interaction with the phone.

Here's an example. The first picture is chrome as seen from my Note10+. The second one is from my P6. Notice that black bar at the bottom? The screenshot doesn't capture it, but there's a pill in that bar. It's ridiculous.

What launcher are you using on the P6. The Pixel launcher has that bar. No way to disable it. I have never used a Samsung, but it seems that their launcher doesn't. You could try other launchers on the P6 and see if is gone. I've not tried any so I cannot recommend one. Maybe others can comment on Nova (or others).

Just got a notice of a new beta update. Wish it would get rid of the bottom white line. No idea, We’ll be checking it out.

Hi all.
I recently bought myself an iPhone 11 Pro and to be honest, I'm not very enthusiastic about this phone, and in general I still have a Xiomi and I do not know whether to update my operating system or not.

Not sure which operating system you're talking about updating but you could always update your 11 pro to iOS 16. I have it running on my 13 and it's pretty cool for an iPhone.
Still has a ways to go to compete with android but what the heck.

Just received the notification. Play Protect was updated about an hour ago.

One appreciated fix is the Search blank screen. Now it's showing the history and searching results.

Downloading and installing the newest Beta 3 update.

For those that don't like the new gesture bar at the bottom of the screen you'll have to submit feedback to Google. Unfortunately it's not going away anytime soon. Google apparently thinks we want it and like it, according to some online surveys
