Question Android 14 file transfer to Windows 11 stopped working

I have Developer options enabled on my Motorola Neo 40, Android 14, and used it to transfer files between phone and my Windows 11 PC via a USB connection. However, recently the options list to use file transfer has not been appearing. The advice I received from Motorola was 'Factory Reset'. As I can't get my files of the phone (file transfer isn't working) I'd rather not go down this nuclear route if at all avoidable.Can anybody tell me tell me how I can get this function back?

Have you tried a different cable? Cables can fail, and it's possible the data transfer wiring in the cable you're using has become frayed or burnt out.

I thought this as well; been through every cable I've got - makes no difference

Reboot the device and computer but sounds like a cable , I've run into this myself because the ones I had where able to charge but not transfer data, they are cheap enough I buy one that says Data transfer to rule it out

Also try a different USB port on the PC, if you haven't already.

I've never heard of Phone Link.
Is Phone Link just on Windows 11 PC's?
The 'Step 1' says to: "On the taskbar, search for Phone Link". Or would it also be in our Windows 10 PC's?

I have been able to get my files off Moto Edge 40 using Phone Link - it is unbelievably clunky compared using the File Transfer method - but at least it will enable me to get all the files that have not already been backed up of the phone, so I'll then reset the phone and go back to using File Transfer - thanks for your help!
