Android 14 Stable/One UI 6.0 Now Out

I can bet crappy T-Mobile will be last for sure

Not that it matters to me since I'm on the beta build at the moment on my unlocked model with T-Mobile SIM.

Ok I have to come in on this as I usually do..

Don't be in such a hurry for these updates. After the update we will see new posts of now my phone won't do this, this app doesn't work, battery drain is horrible after update and so on.

For the record this happens on apple OS updates also. After the IOS 17, it trashed a lot of phones. For me dropped calls all the time, Google shows it's not just me with this issue. I know a friend immediately after update he doesn't get his mail, flashlight stopped working, both cameras not working.

So I'll keep saying.. Updates are not always worth the risk. People should have the right to refuse them and only get security updates.

Funny...I just went and unchecked my "update over WiFi" toggle. I saw the stable version was out, and I want to see if there are any issues before I commit. If it misbehaves, I have too long of a wait for the S24.

When it comes to major Android updates, I always like to do a backup before I update. Download and install the update, then do a complete factory reset. Then restore only my calls and texts. Try to be as close as possible to a clean install
This clears out any remnants of the previous OS. To confirm it, before you do a reset.. Note the size of the OS, then note the size of the OS after a reset.

How do you save the texts? Like can I save them, factory reset and update then reload all of my texts?

Yep, Smart Switch to a laptop/pc, Verizon Cloud backup. Samsung has a temporary back up cloud service that's free. Several ways to do it. Call history and texts are all I ever "restore". Many bugs reported after a major Android update can be avoided by doing this. Again, after a major update, not just a security update, look at the size of the storage for the operating system, do a factory reset and note the size of the operating system then. The system still retains some data from the previous OS that's only removed after a factory reset.

I like to also add can clear cache in recovery should delete old files not user data before a factory reset with each Android update

I agree. Even though I've very rarely had any issues with an Android update, I do believe they're our phones, and if we like the way it's running and it's secure, we shouldn't have new Android versions forced on us.

It's the same with Windows (which I DO really hate 🤬), Roku, Amazon streaming devices, and pretty much everything else out there. They've found they can control the way they feed us ads, and collect our data by manipulating our software whether we like it or not ☹️

I went through the beta and am now on stable (in the UK, don't get excited Americans lol) and have still never cleared the cache partition on my S23 Ultra. Bow before my death defying, wreckless bravery!

Also, I think the last device I set up from scratch was the Oneplus 2... if I'm honest though I really do need to do a bit of a cleanup lol.
