Does anyone know if we will ever get to the point of being able to load a 2.1 ROM that was originally made for the Droid but has been optimized? Added apps, removed crappy ones, all the tweaks already done. Kind of like people have done with Windows custom install CDs.

ok so i know, stupid question, and i can prolly find it searching for 3 hours in the forums, but was wondering if someone could give me a dumbed down version.

it goes in a folder on your SD card called nandroid.
Well, it does with RA-pulse-v1.5.2, and that uses Nandroid as its backup utility...

I'm not sure if this has been covered and haven't seen it specifically mentioned. How easy is it to completely wipe the phone once the official 2.1 is released. Just because I will prob want to install the official 2.1 onto a clean slate rather than over my current leaked version.
Real easy. You install your nandroid back up in the nandroid folder, and reinstall the same way you installed 2.1.
so i installed the HK and it doesnt see to be getting past the boot screen. the droid pops up and then to the glowing eye and it then loops back to the droid writing. this what its supposed to do?
OK, I just didn't know if there was more a complete way to erase the phone. hhahaha, I'm thinking like windows and Im thinking that using nandroid to go back to the nandroid back up of 2.0.1 would be like going to a previously saved state in windows so it wouldn't quite delete all the evil.
o i messed up the install, i by mistake disabled all instaed of enabled all...hopefully this works...
The back up deletes all 2.1 files and restores to the state before install. It will not however delete root or su.
They all have their set of issues that bugged the hell out of me. The whole deal of installing buggy software took me back to my 9530 days. I got the Droid so that I could have a bug free phone that works. Dumped the 2.1 and went back to the 2.0.1 . Now the wait begins for the official Droid 2.1.
i dunno,im waiting for the official. just feels better waiting it out. i had all the leaked versions on my storm. but this is a much different phone. its worth the wait.
i just spoke with a good friend of mine who works for \/erizon as a tech support rep and he told me that android 2.1 is not being released until march due to some fatal flaws, i trust what he tells me, i use to work for \/erizon also so i still have many other people on the inside and as the day goes on i will contact them to credit what i am saying
