PSA for Rooted users only:
POINT #1:
If you are rooted and don't know if you have a custom recovery, you probably do, and won't likely be able to install the OTA until you flash the stock recovery. This is very simple to do! The Nexus Toolkit many used to unlock and root has an option to flash just the stock recovery for you. Alternatively, you can grab the stock recovery by unzipping the factory image from Google (see my Factory Image Restore thread) and locating the recovery.img file, then flashing it yourself via fastboot using:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
The OTA should install fine now. However.....

POINT #2:
To keep root you will first want to install OTA Rootkeeper free from the Play Store. If you don't, you can still easily root again afterwards following the same method you originally used.

If anyone has any further questions regarding those topics, try and post them in the Rooting section and myself or someone else will be around to help :)

let the update come to you but if you want to force it

settings-->apps-->All Apps-->Google service framework [Clear data/Cache]
you will have to try it a few times.

I've read this could cause issues. Try it at your own risk.

Curious about this statement. I assume this applies if when rooting you installed CWM or similar. I specifically did not install CWM because I believed that by not installing CWM, it would allow OTA updates. Is this not correct?

No not necessarily. Also I sense you may be confusing terms.. CWM is a recovery that you flash, while ROM Manager is an app you install which can flash the CWM recovery for you.. These terms are often confused. If you did not flash CWM or another recovery permanently then just note the second point in my post. Sorry for the confusion.

anyone who has received the update, do we know anything about the slight screen-flicker and a possible fix in this update?

Still no update, is this update real?

Yes.. Updates get pushed in waves. Within a few days everyone will get it, no need to stress or mess with the "tricks" suggested earlier, lol. It will be pushed to everyone shortly.
