Anyone having trouble with Play Services using a lot of battery after the update? Any recommendations? I've cleared the system cache and uninstalled/reinstalled the update to Play Services, should I factory reset?

does this work read txt mess while driving?Driving and Places - To allow your phone to read your messages and calls out loud while you are driving or when you are at a specific location, open the Moto app, then tap the icon on the top right corner of the screen, go to Voice and select Talk to me.

Note: “Keep quiet” while driving and at locations, and “Play music” while driving, are no longer supported.
if not i wont upgrade

thanks

We've recently lost the ability to send or receive MMS after the update. Haven't reset the phone yet, saving that as the last resort.

Anyone have a similar issue?

Moto X 2014, Tmobile

Got the upgrade on my PE moto 2014, and it seems to run hot a lot. Any one else having this issue? Did a factory reset just after the upgrade and battery life and performance are not great.

Mine was hot in the beginning but cooled down over time. All I did was wipe the cache partition in the recovery. No factory resets.

  • No problems with Play Services.
  • My phone will still read texts to me while I'm driving or at home. I have not tried to have it play music while driving when not already tied by bluetooth to my car.
  • MMS works fine for me.
  • No abnormal heat issues.

Like Luke, I also performed a cache wipe immediately after updating to 6.0. I have noticed that my battery is a little less robust than it had been when I use the phone heavily, but Doze does work. You just have to remember that it takes 30 minutes of inactivity to kick in, and that inactivity means no movement and no use, period. Carrying it in your pocket counts as activity; sitting on a desk is not.

Remember that cell signal strength will still have a big impact on battery life, even when dozing.

Does having active notifications flashing on the lock screen, or using Wave to Wake, prevent Doze from engaging then?

I'm not sure about the active notifications. Those took little power to begin with, so I don't know how Doze treats them. Wave to Wake does not seem to interfere with Doze, however.

I apologize in advance but I promised I used the search feature here (and on other sites, for that matter). I found out I'm getting a Moto X2 (AT&T) as a hand-me-down on Friday. This will become my primary phone (still scooting along on an HTC One M7 at the moment) and I have spent the last hour perusing the Interwebz and I cannot find a straight answer...Will Moto X2's on AT&T be getting 6.0?

It seems like some people have gotten the update, some haven't - some say it's never coming, some say it may come. It's chaos (gotta love that about Android!). Anyone have an answer?

Only the Pure Edition 2014 Moto X will get Marshmallow. The Verizon and AT&T branded 2014 X will not.

It was released around the beginning of December. You'll see several mentions about it earlier in this thread.

Right... For some reason my phone doesn't have that update. What could cause this issue? Also, do you know if I could find a good time for it?

Quick Q: Will the Moto X 2014 Pure Edition run on verizon? I currently have the verizon branded moto x.

Pure Edition doesn't allow you to connect to CDMA networks, which is what Verizon is. So sadly, no. I am in the same sorrowful boat as you.
