Android 7 Nougat for the Moto X Pure Edition

I'm thinking never. Lenovo has pretty much abandoned supporting software upgrades.

November to January... 45-60 days after beta drops, provided there are no serious issues and no beta has been heard about yet. This is all provided we even get it, Motonovo has made no commitment to it, in fact, only 16 phones are legitimately confirmed to get it, and a handful of tablets. http://android.stackexchange.com/q/139232/146132

Many more devices likely will get Nougat, but no one has actually committed to it, with a verifiable official source.

It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't get it.

I am fully expecting not to get the Nougat update. I'll be pleasantly surprised to get more security updates, really.

If I don't have the update by Christmas, and new Nexus's are out, I'll probably end up selling the phone and picking up a Nexus to be honest. I don't really have any loyalty to Moto anymore, after not getting 6.01, and being so behind on Security updates.

Them emojis are serious business

I don't get all the crying about security updates unless you're doing some funky stuff. Now one day there will be a general Android security big breach but it hasn't happened yet.

Read this article.. Android 7.0 and the Snapdragon 800 — a conundrum http://www.androidcentral.com/Android-7-snapdragon-800
In it, Jerry (the man, the legend) posits that all Snapdragon 800 and 801 devices will not be able to officially upgrade to Nougat. It has to do with support for the OpenGL ES 3.1 libraries. Apparently Qualcomm did not implement support for the OpenGL 3.1 libraries in flagship SoC's until the Snapdragon 805. The GPU, Adreno 330, is shared by the 800 and 801 chipsets, per Qualcomm's website: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/800

What I'm saying is that because of this, our less than 1 year old phones are not going to get major OS updates. That's exactly why I rooted my XPE in June and I am sooo happy I did! The folks at XDA are miracle workers!

The Moto X Pure Edition uses the 808.

I like the phone, but Lenovo , the Chinese company that bought Motorola cell phones is VERY Slow to send any updates to the phones made before the company sale...

Yeah, thinking about grabbing a nexus 6p on eBay and getting rid of my MXPE.

I have a 6P and Im thinking of swapping to X Style (Im in UK).. I find the 6P quite awkward to hold, its a huge square slab of a phone, camera is great however with that EIS but I find it better with a 3rd pary app like proshot.. the speakers are very very good and very loud, but I find they dont have the depth or fullness/fleshed out sound the Style has.

Samsung AMOLED screen is amazing, but IMO, its a bit over-saturated... Battery is awesome as well...

Youll love the 6P, buy it.. but for me, everything I didnt like about it was very much down to personnal things :), just remember it has no SDCard

In terms of the camera... it knocks the S7E out of the ball park, but I cant speak for the Pure/Style as both phones have had updates since their youtube video reviews :)

I really like my Moto X Pure, but one of the reasons I purchased it was for the quick updates. If I knew the Pure was going to get Nougat I probably wouldn't be looking at the LG V20 or excited about the Pixel phones coming. If the Pure was indeed getting Nougat I would be happy to wait a bit, but as for now it seems like they have abandoned updates for the Pure. Sad.

If the battery were better, it would still be my daily driver, but that screen just sucks battery.
