Android 9 Pie... Do you like it?

Long press the Bluetooth button in quick settings and it will take you directly there. I believe all the buttons in quick settings are tap for on/off and long press for other options/settings now.

Much thanks...never would've occurred to me!

I had a lot of issues with the beta on my OG Pixel XL. I went back to O and had to face the consequences of factory resetting your phone which still haunts me to this day (it was like a month ago). Seeing the final result of P feels pretty good so far TBH. IDK if anyone knows this but if you don"t have auto rotate on n want to flip your screen, when you flip it an icon appears where the task button used to be (if you have the new home button feature on) so you can rotate the screen. I thought this was absolutely genius and sold me lol

I've been on the beta so I knew what I was getting with the official release. I like it a lot. To me the gestures/overview are great, but since webOS was my first love that's not a surprise. Battery life/screen on time have definitely improved, as well.

ETA OG Pixel XL. And I like that the volume buttons default to media as I'm another who is either at my usual ringer volume or on vibrate/silent, but I can see why others prefer the ringer volume to be primary.

I like most of the features so far, but there's two that I don't. For phone calls while the phone is asleep or awake, it shows a small icon on either the middle of the notifications while asleep, or on the notification bar (when awake). I don't like that as it should show me information (ex: someone from my contacts list, caller ID, etc.) before I decide to answer it. I've missed a few calls already because it doesn't show. Anyone else notice this?

Second, adaptive battery is was turned on by default, but I kept display set at a certain level (adaptive brightness turned off). Is it me, but now the display brightness level is much lower? I even turned off adaptive battery, but it didn't readjust the display accordingly.

But those of us without notches shouldn't be saddled with the crippling of our displays to accommodate the notch on devices that have one. If they can adapt the display to "cut" for a notch with a setting in developer options, the notification bar should adapt to show across the entire screen...

I completely agree that there should be some kind of setting to enable this. This allows people in our position the choice of whether or not to adopt to the new display trend. This setting could even be monitored; the more people choose one way or another, that could be used as a litmus test to if the new trend is accepted.

The brightness percentage numbers don't have a direct correlation to the old scale. They using a new scale which utilizes machine learning based on your habits for Adaptive Brightness. I've been on Pie Beta since it's release and my battery has not suffered.

I suppose I could try the adaptive brightness this time and see how it goes. I wasn't a fan of it before because it was never it would never be bright enough for my liking in certain conditions. With it turned off, I had brightness turned to around 40-45%. Since the update, that range now looks too dim.

Yeah....the numbers are different....it's been so long since I've been the Beta that I dont even notice.
Honestly I never went by the numbers on Oreo...I went by what was pleasing to the eye.

Ugh, back to my other issue with Android 9,on incoming calls. My wife has called a number of times today, and either while the phone is asleep or awake, all it shows for me is the small phone icon. I have to pull down the notification shade to show the call and brief details. I don't like it. I want an incoming call to tell me who's calling without having to wake the phone or pull down the shade to identify it.

I'm not following you.... I get incoming information awake or asleep

I figured it out. I use Truecaller to supplement call blocking. Now, it's somehow causing my calls to minimize. I deleted the app, and now it shows properly.

It's not bad except now I get the "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly" error message on reboot/startup after the Pie update.

Display brightness definitely seems lower. I used to keep adaptive brightness at a little more than halfway. Now I have to pump it up to around 80% for a similar level of brightness.

The overall brightness has not changed....it is just scaled differently
