Android Auto and YouTube music

I just subscribed to YouTube and am using Google rewards to pay for it.

How does YouTube music work with Android Auto? Is it pretty seamless? Any hiccups or bugs between the 2?

I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL. Car is a Lexus SUV

I think YouTube Music works well with Android Auto. In the Android Auto settings, go to Navigation and make sure "Show media playback controls" is turned on, and select YouTube Music as your default media app.

Personally, I like YT Music much more than Spotify. I found the latter to be overly repetitive when making mixes for me, and I had absolutely no use for their weird dystopian AI DJ feature.

The only other thing to consider is that Spotify will be adding lossless streaming soon. YouTube Music has the lowest sound quality of the major streaming platforms: Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music. Apple Music already has lossless streaming. Amazon Music streams at a higher quality than YouTube Music, even though it isn't lossless. I think YouTube Music is acceptable in my car, but I don't have a high end audio system in my car. If you do, then you may want to look elsewhere.
