Android Auto Coolwalk not working despite upgrade.

...And I agree. It's frustrating that only Google works in both full screen and when it's in the card on the right but Waze, which is owned by Google, doesn't....
My google maps never seems to go to the "card" on the right. Only ever full screen or the "main" split panel on the left.

If I have google maps on the main and Spotify on the card and click Spotify to move it to the main, GM's moved over to the card. Its kinda smallish and far away to be super useful, but at least the map is still technically up. I have the next turn in my HUD anyway so it's not a huge deal. Waze is way more useful with the crowd sourcing anyway.

Also, interesting - my icons are still over on the left side as opposed to the bottom.

Sorry for the poor photo(only have a 6 inch cable on it) but this is how mine is in the UK... Just updated yesterday. PXL_20230209_071659453.MP.jpg

Wireless Android Auto now split screen for me

Nice, been waiting for this. Don't know when the update occurred but wasn't there yesterday

(USA) Galaxy S22 Ultra running AA 8.7.630264 on a 22 Kia Rio S 8" screen

From a "...Keep your 'lectric eye on me, babe..." perspective, looks about right (and not left) to me.

Nice.

Re: Wireless Android Auto now split screen for me

Nice. There is a "cool walk" thread in here about it.

Going to merge the 2 together

I just checked my pixel 7 and it shows 8.7.630264-release
I have the same display as Grabber5.0, Waze does not yet support it.

In the lower right corner of the screen, I have signal strength, battery level, and current time. I don't have the current outside temperature. I have all of those on my screen if android auto is disconnected. Any reason why?

There is a setting in either Android Auto or Google Maps, for show of outside temperature. I don't remember now where that is. I looked for it this morning and couldn't find it, but remember outside temperature previously displaying (pre cool walk) near the top of the screen, before I also then turned that off. Presumably, that outside temperature value comes from google based on your location.

In your case (with your phone disconnected from AA, both wireless AA or connected USB-C AA), if you are seeing phone signal strength and battery level then I'd suggest that those are perhaps coming from your phone over Bluetooth to your vehicle's head unit, via basically the Bluetooth hands free connection. If you are also seeing outside temperature on your head unit display with your phone not AA connected, then I'd suggest that value is coming from your vehicle's own temperature sensor.

@spARTacus...I'll do some checking. Thank you for the info. Another question...in my phone's Android Auto app, do I want to Allow "Display over other apps?" I'm not sure what that feature does in app in general.

I will have to double check my display. I think the temp shows on the new layout, but not 100% sure.

I can't seem to find a display over setting. I do have a Picture in Picture setting, in Google Maps on the phone. That will result in a smaller Google Maps app panel still showing on the phone screen and on top of other apps, if one needs to temporarily switch to another app on the phone while still navigating to a destination. Kind of useful I guess if using the phone when not driving and not connected to Android Auto. I'd agree with the other post, that display over doesn't seem to be needed if using Android Auto and a vehicle head unit screen, and since one isn't supposed to be using the phone screen when driving.

We just got a new Subaru Ascent with AA and with the same app version, my P6pro shows the updated format but my wife's P6 still shows the old. I even side loaded a newer version on her phone and it still shows the old format.
