Android Auto: Music Playback vs Dex

Good morning!

Today was the first day plugging in to Android Auto in my car. 2017 Chevy Volt. The interface comes up just fine, however music does not switch over to AA. The track is playing (tested with both Google Play Music and YouTube music) unless I reboot the device. After rebooting it'll work until disconnected again.

I'm able to make calls just fine but again, no audio from those 2 music apps. Reuters did the same thing.

I did notice the Samsung Dex notification for PC connection. I disabled the Dex for PC app to test but, again, no resolution.

Anyone else experience this? I did connect the Note to a PC the other day to play with that functionality so I'd be curious if others have as well.

Thanks ahead of time!

Do you have the DUAL AUDIO feature enabled? Also, not sure it affects AA, but check to see if the Bluetooth profile for your car has the Media profile active and not just the Phone one (you'll need to be connected to the car to check)

Dual Audio is not enabled. I'll check the profile when I connect to the car next.

So the Audio setting, when connected to the car via USB is not staying ticked on. It does stay on with just Bluetooth without the cable. Will have to dig more. Never had an issue before.

So the Audio option I'm Bluetooth doesn't matter when connected via USB. I rebooted the phone and it's working again. Stopped the car, unplugged and plugged back in. Still worked. Going to keep an eye on this one but hope a reboot isn't necessary every time. Ha.

Yeah, that's odd... I've used mine in two cars already (granted, they were both Hyundai, so pretty much the same system) and no issues.

Have you unpaired your car/ uninstalled Android Auto / re-installed? Are you opening Android Auto's media screen after connecting?
That I have. Multiple times. The one thing I just discovered was an Android Auto setting in my stereo on the car. It had listed every device that had ever activated AA in the deck. I cleared that list on the car after this last reboot.

I am going in to AA on the screen and navigating between the media apps. I literally get no sound from anything. I can make calls from it just fine but that's because phone call audio utilizes Bluetooth even from the AA interface.

I'll be heading out in a few hours here too see if any of that made a difference. Since I rebooted my phone during my last round of troubleshooting, it was working. I'm finding it manifests itself. I may change the battery optimization setting for AA as well.

Even though it's not looking like others are having issues here, I'm going to head to the AA and Samsung forums. This is such a weird issue. My husbands Note 9 works consistently every time. Rules out the cable and any possible issue with the infotainment center.

Have tried various combinations of USB modes though it always seems to default to what it needs. At a loss!

Sadly no. I need to test it out in my husbands truck later today too. There are some threads on the AA support page popping with some of the same issues as well. Tried posting out on Samsung but it keeps getting automatically marked as spam. (Grr).
