Android Auto

Not quite sure when it changed (December update, perhaps?) but now when I plug in to Android Auto, same car, same cable, I get "Charging" instead of "Charging slowly".

Can't say for sure yet, but it does seem to be charging at a faster rate.

Probably more of a visual change in the wording versus anything w/ the charging actually changing.

No, I'm really quite sure it was charging faster. About 10% gain (from 50% to 60%) in 25 minutes or thereabouts. Significantly faster than when it was saying "Charging slowly".

That would definitely be odd for them to change the rate -- especially if it wasn't causing issues.

The only issues which started recently have to do with receiving calls. When I get a call, no one can hear me, and I cannot hear them. If I place the call, things work as normal. Its driving me nuts.

But it *was* causing issues - many people were complaining about extremely slow charging when connected to AA. In an earlier post in this thread, I said, "On this 25 minute ride to the mall I've gained about 3%. That's while deliberately using the phone as little as possible."

Well, tonight on my 30 minute drive home I gained 15%. I'd say that is quite an improvement.

Ah I wasn't aware of that. I haven't heard of any charging complaints from friends.

Try "use device default" for phone screen under AA settings. The screen will power off after the normally specified period, which should help speed up charging times.

Read back in this thread...

Why? I didn't say I doubted you. I simply stated I haven't heard that and that is why I said what I said.

Sorry I post here a lot and I simply don't have time to read every single post of every single thread -- that just isn't going to happen ;).

Understood. I was just pointing out that many people have reported the problem of very slow charge rates when the Pixel 3 is connected to Android Auto via cable - even with Google's "official" USB-A to USB-C cable.

FWIW, I have another oddity that popped up with AA simultaneously with the change in charge rate:

I use PowerAmp Beta at the gym every morning and, yes, I do close the app when I am finished. However, lately this odd thing happens when I plug my Pixel 3XL into Android Auto - no matter what I was listening to on the headunit (Sirius XM, media from a flash drive, AM/FM radio), it stops and PowerAmp opens on the phone and begins playing through the car audio system.

This *never* happened before, not with the 3 XL, not with any of my previous Pixel phones. Not sure if it is a PowerAmp update thing or an AA update thing...

It might be in Poweramp Headset/Bluetooth options

The only thing remotely close is "Resume on Wired Headset" which *is* enabled. However, it has always been enabled - it just never worked with AA until this past week.

I wish I could get power amp to work with AA I prefer it over Google Play music . I haven't been able to figure out how to make it a option available to use .

The app must be written to support AA. That's not something end users can change.
