Android central vs Pre central

I've been a member over at PreCentral since June 09 and a member here for a short period of time. I honestly think both forums are great... Of course, you have jerks on both forums. You also have people who will defend their beloved device no matter what the truth is.

Both communities are extremely helpful. Questions normally get answered very quickly.

I do notice a lot more "anti-Evo" comments on P|C though. I just think its because us Pre owners are frustrated. We've been patiently waiting for a long time for some kind of official announcement of new hardware. Good thing Palm just said they are working on new devices. No real release date though...

Overall, I like being a part of both communities (even though I'm not that active here). Its interesting to learn new things about competing smartphones and operating systems.

anti-evo, it seems they are anti-everything. They are almost iPhone bad. I did have some good friends on p/c though. But I find I am really liking this site more and have found that most of the A/C members have been really patent and helpful to new users. So a big thanks to that.

They aren't really saying much about A/C. Just a random comment here and there.

I remember I few said that the android community was not as good. I think it better because more people are on here, and android has been around longer. Don't get me wrong I think webos is a great OS but the hardware is lacking. I personally feel that android is more of a tech geek OS and that webos is simplified for all users.

Cory - you do a great job. a nice delicate balance between no moderation at all and oppressive moderation. i like the laissez faire "first do no harm" approach to moderation. only step in when you have to. i can't stand excessive power trip bible-thumping moderation by people who are trying to compensate for not having any real power in their own miserable real world nerdy lives. you know who you are.

People are so much nicer here. I personally didn't like the crowd there. Nothing against anyone in particular but when someone even slightly puts down the pre, you are attacked. I don't like how they dump complaints into one endless thread. I guess that's because 70% of the posts where complaints. I'll take an Android forum any day.

Hey now, I'm a Precentral member. I don't consider myself the lowest common denominator of society...

(I do agree that PC seems to have more of "those people" than A/C does... )

I joined TreoCentral way back when, moved over to PreCentral when I got my Pre and obviously moved here when I got my Evo. I think it's mostly the same everywhere. You have your good, bad and indifferent.

I love this site alot more than Precenteral! There is always something going on here and always someone to help. Not to mention the Blog seems to be updated a bit more here and I love reading new things. I think Precentral has the same Blog on there home page from the day I bought the EVO on launch day!

gotta say the HomeBrewers at Precentral were godlike and amazing. But the tone of the site since HP bought Palm really has been very abrasive and not open to any discussion that isnt glorifying Palm.

I've been around TC a long time. Was around pdaphonehome even before then if anyone goes back that far. PC has definitely taken a turn for the worse. How bad is it when the word 'fanboy' is a banned word. The newer mods are on board with it and just as defensive as the users. Correcting someone that bashes the Evo with borderline vulgar language gets you an infraction. Questioning a mod creating a bashing thread and making it a sticky can get you banned. It's like being a buddhist in a christianity forum.

I spend more time on AndroidForums than here just because there's only so much time to roam and post, but both of these sites seem to be more rational and civil than what precentral has become. Heck, the good mods from there are even hanging here now.

Funnier thing is I even like webOS and would consider it again. I own both the Pre and the Pixi and look forward to updating them with 1.4.5 and 1.5 this fall and see how it progresses. Yet that all gets lost when I bring up anything Evo over there. Talking comparisons in Android forums gets better responses and more interesting conversations.

I totally agree! My Pre wouldn't survive a whole year without Preware.
