I have got to get this

I love the idea of this phone, looks like it will also fit perfectly in my giant hands.

I also love the speed and power this thing has got.

Finally the encrypted bootloader on this sounds like a challenge to me ;)

I'm definitely moving from a BlackberryStorm to the Droid X on Verizon as soon as possible! A good friend has the Droid on T-Mobile and has convinced me (along with this compelling review) to go Droid, Linux, all the good apps that are available, etc. I like what I see and read!

The phone will be HUGE because Motorola builds solid phones. They have their deficiencies for sure but they almost nailed this one on the head (lacking front facing camera is the biggest downside).

I have played with the EVO a bit and this is supposed to feel a tiny bit better in the hand and is on Verizon...which is huge for Verizon!

Can't wait to get my hands on this phone!

All this thing is missing is the kitchen sink...

I've seen this thing in action and it beats everything else that Verizon (and pretty much any one else) has out right now.

Come on I sell phones for a living and when people ask what I have I have to pull out my Storm 1... and then say, "But I'm getting an android phone as soon as I can!"

help a fella out...

Droid Does, Apple Flubs

The Motorola Droid X is the best phone out there because it is on America's most reliable network, is extremely customizable to reflect the owners unique style, has an awesome camera and video abilities, and has a super large screen. Droid X rocks as does Verizon!

To the tune of "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island".

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of the new Droid X.
That started from a Verizon store
Aboard a tiny box.

The processor was one gigahertz,
The OS was Android.
Five hundred Customers set sail that day
for my Verizon store, my Verizon store.

The people in line started getting rough,
My Blackberry Storm was tossed,
Because of a lack of inventory,
My Droid X was lost, my Droid X was lost.

The phone set ground on the shore of this uncharted parking lot
With Android,
A Camera too,
Eight Gig on Board and microSD,
The movie player,
The OMAP processer and gpu,
Here on July fifteenth

So this is the tale of my attempt
to get a Droid X
I've been in line for a long, long time,
It's an uphill climb

Then I stumbled across this contest,
I will do my very best,
To try to win a new smart phone,
It's a worthy quest.

No memory, no cradle, constant battery pulls,
Not a single Android app,
That is a description of my Blackberry Storm,
As primitive as can be.

So join us here Thursday night my friends,
I am sure to get a smile,
When I win my new Droid X,
Here on the Android Central Podcast.

Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take away our lives, but they'll never take... OUR DROID X!!!

My excitement over the new Motorola DROID X

I am very excited over the the new Motorola DROID X. I am not so excited that I will stand in line for days just to receive an IPHONE (that was not a swipe at loyal iPHONE loyalist), but I am giddy about the latest addition to the GOOGLE DROID family of smartphones. The lackluster VERIZON Wireless commercial for the DROID X doesn't leave much to desire, but it took sites like ANDROID CENTRAL, CNET.com, USATODAY.com, and other DOTCOM sites that provided excellent reviews of the Motorola DROID X. It may not have the front face camera like the current APPLE iPHONE 4.0 or familiarity of the BLACKBERRY devices, but one thing none of the other phones mentioned do not have is the proper size for a man's hand (and some ladies hands). I know I will get a lot of "catty" responses to my reference to the size of the DROID X, but I actually need a phone that is not microscopic and the keypad (whether touchscreen or basic QWERTY keypads) is large enough for me to see as well as dial a simple phone number. I am only 5'10" and small framed guy with average sized hands. If I have issues with the touch screens and keypads of a lot of the smartphones that are currently on the market, then I can imagine how guys (and some ladies) with bigger hands experience the same problems. Sites like ANDROID CENTRAL, CNET.com, etc have also provided comparisons of the DROID X to the APPLE IPHONE as well as other DROID phones. From just about every DOTCOM site it seems the reviewers have given the DROID X the highest marks in comparison to the IPHONE as well as other DROID phones. I know there will always be the next big thing coming out to outshine/outperform all its predecessors, but for now I am focusing on the new DROID X which looks to me like it is a winner. Maybe I am just getting caught up in all the hype and excitement over this new DROID phone. We all need a little excitement in our lives, so why not enjoy the moment and live it up in our own special way. If the DROID X lives up the all the hype, then I may just kick my "CRACKberry" to the curb.

The Droid X is the hottest phone this year because of it's specs, which are obviously pretty unparalled except by the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S's. But I honestly think Motorola has one of the best build qualities on their phones. I currently have a Moto DROID and it's one of the best built phones I've ever used.

As for what it'd be amazing for and what I need it for. I read comics almost exclusively via my current DROID and watch movies at work for hours on end on it. Would be amazing to have the bigger screen. Plus the GPU would be nice to have once we start getting REAL games on Android once Froyo comes around.

The phone made me enter

Long time reader first time poster.

I think that says it all right there. The phone made me enter a contest for itself.

It simply is the most well equiped phone in the Android market.

What better way to make the Iphone junkies i work with jealous? The Droid X would just make them look stupid!

That Droidx is going to be so amazing. I'm used to bigger devices in my pocket so...a HUGE screen and a blazing processor (and less bulk due to no phys keyboard) make this a killer phone. With sling media out this phone is the ultimate bordem killer!

The Motorola Droid X (read our full review) finally comes out on Verizon this week. And to celebrate, we're giving one lucky reader a Droid X of his or her very own.

To win, all you have to do is leave a post in this thread and tell us why you think the Droid X is the hottest phone of the year. We're providing the phone -- you're on your own for Verizon service. (And you'll need to be in the U.S. for this one, obviously.)

The Droid X officially launches Thursday, and we'll announce our winner live on the Android Central Podcast, which starts at 9 p.m. EDT Thursday night. Good luck!

I want the X soon, because all these silly contests will end, and I can just enjoy my new phone.

Why is it going to be HOT? Because overall it KILLS the specs of any other phone on the market! And of course since Motorola built it, you know it's going to last! Motorola is like the Honda of phone makers!
