Android - Change Gmail Account, Delete Original

I need to change my Gmail account that's tied to my Android phone (LG G4). This includes Play apps that I've purchased. In other words, I don't want to purchase apps all over again. On Drive I have the 100GB bonus space but can give that up. I don't use Google+ or care about other Google social networking stuff. I understand that I can import contacts and mail from the old Gmail to new Gmail account.

-Is this possible without losing paid apps from Play?
-Will I need to do a factory reset?
-Any other things to be aware of?

My new account will only be for Google services and storing contacts, also Google voice.
Once I get it working I'll then delete the original primary account.

Thanks!

Edit: I've read conflicting things and it looks like what I want to do isn't possible:

Sorry, that's not possible. Can you keep the old Google account on the phone and just turn off syncing of all of its other components, like Gmail, Calendar, etc., in the Settings>Accounts menu?

Thanks for confirming! I guess the only alternative is to start from scratch. iphone might make sense but that's a whole other set of issues to deal with.
