I just noticed the option on my phone this morning.

Not sure how long it's been available or if someone already reported this for the LGOG, but I thought I'd post it just the same.

If you want it and don't have it yet, uninstall hangouts updates. Then update the hangout app and it will update google play services at the same time and turn on this feature.
