The study was done even before the Nexus 7 was released. I am sure Nexus 7 have taken over the Android tablet world and kindle fire shrinked to about 5%

Android almost doubled their app ecosystem in a year. Apple's has been slowing down.

..because Android has been playing catch-up.

Regardless, I don't care too much about the total number of apps in the ecosystem. I'd rather have high-quality apps.

Bingo! Total app count is meaningless to me. I only care if they have the apps I need or want.

It's like my local library. They have tons (literally) of books by authors and in genres I don't read. Doubling the number of those books does absolutely nothing for me.

Or Netflix streaming. I had them for a year and a half but I canceled in May when I realized most of the things on Netflix I wanted to watch weren't available for streaming.
