Android O for the Pixel and Pixel XL.

personally I don't like the battery percentage showing in status bar..^^

I once accidentally flashed the android o for pixel xl rom into my pixel (not xl). I realized that after using it for several hours. it functioned properly except the fonts and icons looked bigger. anyway I flashed the correct rom afterward.
How do you accidentally flash a rom?
You can change the fonts and icon sizes

I downloaded the wrong image in the first place..^^'

I know font and icon size can be changed but I think it is more safe to flash the correct one.

standby battery test

I intentionally left my phone idle for 13 hours. it was not so difficult to not touching my phone in half a day because I can use web versions for my Gmail and WhatsApp etc. the phone consumed 21% in 13 hours of idle which was not so satisfactory compared with that of 7.1.2. the percentage of google play services seemed to be erroneous.

the developer preview is not very stable. it is good at first and eventually has problems if you didn't restart it for long time. sometimes the home button and multi-task mutton disappeared. only back button existed. sometimes the cellular connection failed even if I was located in an area with good cellular reception. sometimes the file transfer via usb failed. last night I flashed it again and discovered the randomness of the installation of new pixel launcher home screen layout.

last night I flashed my pixel with android o. the new launcher emerged. the weather and date was gone. the google search bar spanned across the top portion of the screen. I don't like this. I tried clearing the data of launcher, google and other apps. no luck.

I flashed it again.

this second time, new launcher didn't emerge. I saw the google pill and weather / date again.

I can now conclude that the new layout just come randomly.

As previously discussed, it is not intended to be stable and run as a daily driver. Right now it's for testing apps. That is also why you can't opt out and receive an update to downgrade.

Based off my experience last year, once it hits beta preview status it should run much better.

The layout has nothing to do with what version of Android you are running... that's a function of the Google app and they can toggle it on their end. Google often plays around with new layouts and such... the full bar vs pill is one of those that they are currently field testing.

I am still trying to figure out how google deals with this. obviously it doesn't strictly depend on device id, gmail account and android version. as said, I flashed android o into my pixel twice. new layout emerged in the first time but not the second. I used the same pc, same usb cable, same rom, same phone, same flashing method and same gmail account. the outcomes were different just at different times. the old layout still persisted even after I updated all apps. will it change to new layout some day? I don't know.

So, are you still issue free with using Android O?
No..I went back to stock. I missed a couple of calls for some reason. Never got the ring tone. Just got a missed call notification and VM despite the phone being next to me in my desk at home.

I might try the next release though as I was impressed with it as a whole.

mine encountered charging issue. last night 23:00 I plugged my pixel to the pc via stock cable. I saw the charging sign on status bar. my pixel acted as the wifi hotspot at night. I played music in pc. at about 3:00 I discovered that the phone was in state of low battery. it was weird as it was connecting to a pc and should be charging. I left it untouched to see what would going to happen. at 3:17 it reached 0%. after a while it powered off automatically.

at 8:00 I turned my phone on. the battery level is 87%. it was abnormal for a phone to obtain only 87% of battery after being charged for 4+ hours.

Installed immediately as soon as it read available... Phone app crashed on an incoming call, Google feed is broken. But who cares about phone calls, latest and greatest software is important 😂😂😂

Loving the notification dots, long press icons to bring up stuff etc. And also access to available widgets of an app just long pressing the icons.
