AC Question

I have had my Droid Mini for a few years, never had any major issues. For the last few days though, I've noticed the Android OS is the highest level on the battery use screen, at between 30%-40%. I never keep WiFi on constantly, I have all my apps set at the lowest use level, location at the battery saver mode, etc. I only turn on WiFi or Data when I'm on a break at work to check Facebook, etc. I've changed NOTHING in the apps that I regularly use yet the battery is draining super fast! I've done several searches over the last couple days to see what people in the same situation have done, but nothing seems to work (the cache clear was one). I've not downloaded any new apps on my phone in this time frame either, so really am at a loss as to what's going on.

Re: Android OS high percenSo thistage, battery draining way quicker than ever before! Help!

So the only thing I have found to keep the Android OS from running the battery down is to turn off WiFi and I turned off Facebook messenger also which sucks. which for a cell phone this sucks but is a fix for now until I figure out what to do next. At least I can text and call if I have to when I'm away from home and have no charger. Probably should get a new phone also. While googling trying to figure out a solution I did see where other phones had the same issues but no solution also thought maybe its better to wait awhile before getting a new phone in case this is a problem with other phones. I don't know much about cell phones but this is my solution for the moment since to do my one job I need to be able to get texts.
Hmmmmm, just a thought. If the battery drain stops when switching WiFi off maybe there's some sync/upload process that got stuck and it's running non stop in the background. You could check, and maybe switch off temporarily, your sync processes in settings - accounts and see if there's something unusual there. Also, check your sync settings in apps like Google photos, Drive, etc.

^ Yes, I was wondering about syncing/uploading, and that would have been my next, and final, suggestion. Running out of ideas. :(

I haven't had Fbook messenger on my phone for over a year...I hate that app and just use regular texting to stay in touch with friends, so, that wouldn't cause any major battery drain. Also, I never have WiFi or Date on during the work day, usually leave WiFi turned on when I get home from work...As far as Sync settings go, I've always had my weather app, email setting, Fbook notification settings to be at the least frequent ones.... So, really not sure what is causing this.

Google Photos Backup & Sync is switched off?

Incidentally, regarding your earlier question, I was referring to an SD card, or more correctly a microSD card, that you, or I suppose someone else, may have put into the phone to expand the storage. They can be troublesome. However, I believe after a brief search that your phone does not take them.

This is a late response but I tried the Sync thing and deleted my email accounts of my phone and still didn't help. Im not so great with doing things on my phone so I may of not done exactly what you were talking about.. I just hope I can get a new phone soon and not have to worry about this anymore.. just sucks I cant do anything but text and call on my phone but atleast that is something.

Ok, i have a few ideas. First of all, could you tell us what phone you are using? might be helpful. Second, check this video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M14CWF5gnT8 .
Thirdly, did you update your OS recently? maybe youre the OS wasn't optimized well for your phone. If your'e using an amoled screen, turn it to grayscale. These are kinda desperate so yeah. If really nothing works, you could do a factory reset or reinstall the OS. best of luck!

Try turning off Location services from the status bar pulldown. See how that works for a day. I'm having the same issue and I suspect it's either the "high accuracy" mode or I just have poor signal throughout the day so it's constantly struggling to get a better location.
