Android Central Question

I wonder if anyone can advise please?

I am running a web server locally and can connect to it using any Windows device - providing each has a Hosts file modified to point appropriately.

However my phone browser just times out if I try to connect directly via Wi-Fi. Switching Wi-Fi off and thereby reverting to the 4G service offered by my phone service provider obviously "comes in" at the server from the outside World.

Is there an equivalent "hosts" option for connecting to the server via an android phone? My phone is a regular non-jailbroken type and I need to test my various web sites to see how they look on a small screen before publishing the live on a production server.

Any guidance gratefully received!
