Android Pie: Can't turn off AOD Auto Brightness Galaxy s8

[Android Central Question]

My AOD is way too dim and I don't have an option to turn off any sort of auto brightness after updating to Android Pie. The only options I have under Always on Display are: display mode and show music information, nothing else. No auto brightness, no brightness slider. Also I can't double tap the clock and change brightness on the actual AOD either. Did the galaxy s8 just get a gimped version of Always on Display? Why can't I change this very annoying feature?

Same problem: My S8 AOD screen does not have the auto brightness button. I use the AOD clock on my bedside table and the clock is so dim I can barely see it at night. I didn't have this problem before. Any way to fix this?

I'm surprised, on my s9+, note 9 and s10+ have auto brightness in AOD . My s8+ battery went so cant check that out .
I would suggest in settings >apps>AOD tap >storage clear data and cache then force close see if it works properly again.

Thank you for amazingly speedy response! Well, I tried but that didn't work. For good measure, I restarted my phone after clearing storage and force stop. Any other ideas?

Baffled by this change which makes the Show continuously feature completely useless in lower light.

Yeah I can imagine, your welcome.
Can you put in safe mode to see if any apps or application interfere with AOD?

Another weird thing: the bloody clock doesn't display in a fixed spot on the screen. (It is not moving around.) Sometimes hanging low or high AND off-center by half an inch. geez

Can you screenshot your AOD?

I'll need another device to do that, since the home screen replaces the AOD as soon as I try to take a screenshot. No one's around, so I'll try to send tomorrow or Tues. Thanks again.

Yeah true , only can screenshot the lock screen after the AOD , ok cool if you can be great .
