android.process.media keeps stopping while transferring files over USB

android.process.media keeps stopping on me while transferring pictures to my Nexus 7 LTE and I simply can't get it done.

Tried in Windows and in OSX on my MBP and even tried my work computer. If I move one file at a time I can get it to work but it won't work in bulk and I have quite a few files. I googled a bit and found a suggestion to try safe move on the Nexus 7, which didn't work either (and further erased all my widgets from Apex, grr).

Right now I'm using ESfile Explorer to do it over WiFi from a shared folder which is working but is far slower than I'd like, about an hour and a half it says.

Anyone have suggestions on trying to get this thing to work?

File transfer is severely limited via MTP in Android. Try small batches instead of all at once.

I'm just the opposite, I do not keep many pictures on the device. Instead, I have Flickr and us the Flickr app to view mine. You can also put them in your Google Drive account as well.

How do we get a Google Drive account?

Thank you! Can I use this without a working computer?

You can. The PC part just helps when you want to keep things sync'd. In drive you can create a shared folder which will allow you to share and update documents within it with someone else. You just send out an invite to share with another gmail user. My wife and I use that feature for grocery shopping. She creates the list on her PC and I check things off as i am using it. She can see what I have checked off and add things while I am still out. We can even clarify items. She puts brown sugar on the list and I get there and I don't know if she means light or dark. I just put in a (dark or light?) next to it and she can see and update at home. Just one of the ways of using Drive and it is free as is QuickOffice which you can also download and save to Drive folders.

Thanks for the clarification! This may actually work wonders for my storage issues now (since I upgraded my home WiFi several weeks ago). I like your grocery shopping example too. That would work well here too when my friend is over. :)
