Android Q Beta Bugs Discussion

Hi! Did not see it posted, my Pixel does not sync with smartwatches anymore. Tried a Fitbit Versa and a Samsung.
Firefox crashes, but I noticed a couple of you mentioned that.
Otherwise trying to make the best of it and keep using the phone daily.

I got my Versa paired again and working!

Did you see the lock screen clock changes that can be made through ADB? Id love for someone to try them and let me know if they work well and are stable. Im not the best at using ADB and its been a while since I used it on my Nexus phones.
No I haven't tried any more ADB stuff since.

A couple other things I have noticed. My phone wont lock itself after my set 30 seconds if I leave it unlocked sitting on a table. I have to actually lock it from the button. Second, when my phone is locked, I will get no notifications pretty much unless I unlock my phone.

I could be staring at my lock screen for a half hour and when I open my phone I now have 10 emails coming through and a bunch of other notifications. This happens unless my tweetcaster updates on its hourly mark and then it apparently triggers everything else to wake up and notify, very odd.

I've had the beta now for about a week and here are the issues that I have ran across:
1) Starbucks app opens and immediately closes
2) Pharmacy app (The supermarket Publix's pharmacy app): Opens but then says that "This application requires 5.0 and higher"
3) Firefox doesn't work at all. It's similar to the Starbucks app. It attempts to open but then immediately closes.

Anyone have problems with Google Stand no longer charging? Mine worked fine until I went to beta. No longer charging my Pixel 3.

You know this must be a small issue or it's just the newness of the beta because I'm not seeing this anywhere on the web but here.

Waze is freezing (the GPS, not the whole interface) up on me every time I use it (Android Q, Pixel2XL). The screen in Android Auto thinks I'm standing still, not driving. I can "goose" it and get it to update and start tracking me if I go on my phone and hit the Waze icon. Why does that kick it into working temporarily (about 7 seconds) god knows.

Also, why always android auto. Every time if something can go wrong you can bet your last nickle it will be AA. It's a super fragile piece of software.

Have not seen this. Charges fine, albeit slowly it seems, for me.

I found that if you allow "always on" for location services for Waze, it will work in AA. If you set it for "only when app is active" it will freeze up.

I was so happy with my Q daily driver... until it froze. The AOD showed an earlier time, and the alarm I set never rang. Shame.

Oh no that's terrible! Did you try and do a reboot, or a factory reset even though it pains me to suggest that!

Just realized Google Files not working under Q. When you try and open it, a message states "Files by Google" is not yet supported on your device. Of course, it worked fine under Pie.

Unless I'm missing something, isn't this Google files?

Yes that is files and it works ok on my phone.
Thankfully. Glad to hear it. I honestly just keep on playing a different developer mode settings trying to shrink the size of the display find a little bit more so but other than that everything on my phone is pretty much good. Here's a cool little trick if you like it, hit the Google search bar widget on your home screen once then type it in contact. You can call or text the contact from that. It's an additional step on your home screen though.

There are two Google Files. The one that works is 565kb and specifies "version Q". The other is 20.75Mb and is version 1.0.

For me, the small one works and the larger one gives me the error message.

Interesting. I just had the original files app installed when I upgraded to Q it has always worked.

I am not using Pixel Launcher so the contact thing doesn't work for me. But I have sesame shortcuts installed that does the same thing for me.

You are correct. One works and the other does not.

Hey I got a new bug yesterday. I installed YouGov Pulse which acts like a VPN to collect internet usage for YouGov. They are a polling/survey company in the UK. Once I installed it the system would crash,go back and unresponsive. I had to keep holding the power button until the phone restarted. This happened 3 times until I removed the app from my phone. After it was removed the phone has been ok again.
