Android Q Beta Bugs Discussion

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not.

So I have tried installing other browsers from the play store that have ad blocking ability. The browsers I've tried are Samsung Internet (my previous default browser on android 9), Firefox, Firefox Focus and Microsoft Edge. When I try launching Firefox I get the following error message: "Background activity start from org.mozilla.firefox blocked. See g.co/dev/bgblock" Samsung Internet just crashes instantly upon launch. The only one I've gotten to work is Microsoft Edge. Does anyone have a work around for this? I know its a beta software but it just seems odd that the bulg of the apps that aren't working are browser apps.

I had trouble with Firefox. I used Opera Touch with success. Edge works because it is based on Chromium like Google Chrome is. Try opera Touch. It is very fast.

just out of curiosity, even though Microsoft edge browser is chromium based now, what is the advantage of using that versus the actual Google chrome browser?

I haven't used it. I know on the desktop it will have backwards compatibility with Internet Explorer

For me it's all about ad blocking! Im sorry but I can not STAND ads. There everywhere, and since ads is Google's bread and butter Chrome is filled with them on mobile.

Unfortunately in beta 3, there is still wallpaper stretching when you put the phone landscape style with custom wallpaper for an application versus a picture you've taken that is in Google photos.

Battery optimization

Anyone try entering battery optimization and it force closes?

The new gestures are a bit Huawei esque when going home otherwise the only issue I have so far is that my phone (P3) is very very slow.

I am still trying to get used to the gestures. According to the tech blogs Google with have 2 options in Q: full gesture nav or 3-button nav which means it might be bringing the 3-button nav to the Pixel 3 for the first time. I am on a P2XL so always had the button option.

I find the new gestures difficult. Sometimes I am scrolling in an app and it thinks I am going home and closes the app. I also struggle to open halfway to open recents. I have to do it very slooowly. But overall I prefer them and am willing to work on it until I get used to it.

Does now playing show up on the lock screen for everyone? I have it turned on, and I can see the history of all the songs that are found, but it does not show up on the lock screen.
