Android Q Beta Bugs Discussion

Downgrading.

Yeah, I went back to Pie Friday and I'm glad I did.
AA was the dealbreaker for me but there were a few other bugs, that have been mentioned here, that I was glad to be rid of. And once I went back to pie, I realized how rock solid it truly is. Especially after a factory reset and clean installation.
Now, on the other hand, Q was definitely snappier for me and I believe it's going to be a pretty substantial upgrade.
It'll only be a couple of weeks (approx.) until the next beta so I'll try again at that point.

I'm also no longer seeing "now playing" on the lock screen. But when I go into history, it is registering songs it's heard.

Ok, not sure if its because I rebooted so many times, but I am now seeing "now playing" on the lock screen. Not only that, but I noticed a little musical note on the top bar and it was also the "now playing" when the screen is unlocked. Thats pretty cool.

I'll say this much especially for running a beta OS on the phone, reboots often fix a lot of the small minor glitches and bugs.

Unfortunately, through all the reboots, something happened where I literally lost over 30 saved wifi passwords throughout my journeys, including home and work.

Its a beta, I knew what I was getting into. I should get a tattoo somewhere that says "stop jumping on betas".
trust me, if its any consolation to you, there were some small bugs and I had to hard wipe my pixel once after I downloaded the OTA for it. Thankfully everything working a lot smoother now though.

okay so here's another interesting observation by Android Q beta. The lock screen and ambient display notifications are smoother for activating the lock screen when the screen animations are 1x versus .5X. If that makes any sense.

My pixel 2xl has slowed waaaaay down. Camera super slow, app restarts itself mid pic. Alot of apps that have a pay feature, gas, bank, etc not working. Lost all dark modes. During calls hard to hear both sides.

First thing I do when I get a new phone is turn off all animations from the get go. Id never see this difference.

yeah I know what you mean. However, when I had the screen animation set to .5x, I noticed that the Ambient displayed activating the lock screen was very talkative spasm. At the regular one acts animation speed it's more normalized. I can't imagine what no animations would be like hahaha.

Im thinking maybe I should try animations. I have never seen a phone with them. I just knew that I should turn them off to make it as fast as possible.

Another glitch I noticed last night. When my battery hit 27%, I got a warning to turn on battery saver mode. Then all of a sudden it looked like a rave on my phone. It started blinking on and off and wouldnt react to anything. I rebooted and plugged it into a charger and it stopped.

Yes I'll admit, that is a bit weird. here's another glitch, this morning during the week I have a do not disturb rule to turn my notifications back on at 6:10 a.m. when I wake up, my do not disturb rule was still active! I had to manually turn it off.

yeah I say give developer mode and screen animation settings a shot. It's not going to really screw anything up at all.

Actually, "Look before you leap" is an oldie but a goodie. I jumped on the beta but my auto is a 1998 Nissan so that wasn't an issue, I don't use Google Pay so that wasn't an issue, and I have no games or what's called social media on my phone. So, everything has worked for me although a few apps, like Google Photos, have some serious issues. Still, it's usable for me and fun.

Yeah, Im not complaining. Its very usable for what I need on a daily basis also. Im just posting the bugs I come across when I see them. Other than Waze not working and Pandora cutting out on me, everything else I can use a computer for.

I had the roughest time yesterday. It was just too much. Downgraded and I'm happy. My work flow was too disrupted.

damn dude, so sorry to hear that! Like I said, last Thursday after I hard wiped my pixel, Android Q has been pretty smooth for the most part. I'm in sure there are some small little flaws here in there but it is after all a beta.
