Android Wear annoyance - being a minute behind

I've got a Huawei Watch. Love it.

One Android Wear annoyance though. It seems like ambient mode refreshes the watch face less often (perhaps every 2 minutes) than awake mode. Presumably this is a smart way to save battery, but honestly I'd take the hit on battery life to have an accurate time when I glance at my watch. For really precise things like catching a train or making a meeting on time it's really annoying not to know whether to trust my watch and the fact it could be a whole minute behind. This is basic.

Yeah I've noticed that. Then it will do a quick "update" and catch up when main screen comes on. The whole idea of the ambient screen is for time only like a regular watch. I mean what else would you want it for? It should do the one thing it exists for accurately. This is ridiculous.

Is it watch face dependent? I wonder if some faces update to the minute or even second. It is a fundamental flaw for a watch.

Not sure but now that you mentioned it if I recall it was only present on some faces but I'm not sure. I have always on turned off on both of my watches. The ambient mode faces just aren't worth it imo. Most of them are horrible looking
