Angler possibly leaked?

I honestly was hoping to be wowed by this device, til I remembered reading the article about Google not going for "pretty" with the Nexus this year. I'm hoping it's not the final product, but being that it doesn't have that wow factor, I'd expect it to be priced at no more than $500. I also expect it to have a power user battery, of the rumored 4,200 mAh. Only then would I consider it.

Assuming the worst and it's underwhelming, what other phones are you considering?

Either of the Moto X's, or the Moto Nexus 6, honestly. I've wanted stock to near-stock for a while. It all depends on the reviews. I really hope TK is right about a big battery, though. If all else fails, I'll wait for the 820 crop next year.

it's a render, not the final version. front and sides look good, back looks hideous.

I care about features and specs, not looks. if it's this ugly, but has a big battery and the rumored features, then who really cares what the back looks like ... just get a case.

i'm not letting the upper part of the back of a phone ruin a near perfect device that has everything I'm looking for.

consider? a 4200 battery and all you would do is consider it? after all the battery talk the last 4 months??!!

I mean, the back is pretty bad, but it'll probably be a lot better when it's released, and u can just throw a case on it .... and how many times have you said you'd take a big battery over looks? well here it is. IF (and I realize that's a big if) it has a 4200 I'm all over this phone. people can stare at their pretty little moto pure and it's 3000 battery, while my ugly *** phone is running like a champ all day!!

I say all this with a smile of course, but u get the point!!

How do you all feel about the 810? I'm tempted to wait for the 820, but since all the phones I'm interested in are released in the latter half of the year, I rather not wait another year for a phone.

good question. I won't buy a phone with an 810. I need two phones, like yesterday, to replace my S4 and Nexus 4. The LG Nexus is pretty much a lock, and the 2nd will be BT the Pure and Hauwei Nexus (I can care less what it looks like for the record!!)

so let's assume, for discussion's sake, both Nexus phones have the 810.

I'd consider the Moto Nexus 6 and Note 4, but just don't see myself getting an older phone.

One+ said last month they'll be releasing something around Christmas. If it was simply a OP2 with quick charge and NFC (and they did away with invite system) and no 810, I'd consider that.

G4 Pro, I just hate their software.

So to answer your question, I'd probably get the Pure and wait for 2016. I'd get the M10 if it had what I'm looking for. If not, at that point, I'd probably just grab a 2nd Pure.

BTW processor isn't really even that important to me, but I don't trust the 810. These days I'm looking for an unlocked, unbranded, bloat free phone running stock that's reasonably priced and has most the features I like.

Lol, you know I'll be rocking this (as it stands now) ugly as sin phone if it came with a 4,200 mAh battery! :P

I know you will, that's why I was busting around, lol ;-) ... that render is comically ugly though. almost like a cruel joke. here's your big battery boys and girls, but it's gonna be the ugliest phone you've ever seen!!

I'm so not worried though. truth is, even if you take both Nexus phones out of the equation, the Pure would be more than sufficient. I also think Doze will be a pleasant surprise, and the Hauwei version will be a great phone.

What are the specs on this Moto Pure? That's the style I keep hearing about correct? I've never had a moto phone.

No USB-C on the Moto. :(

Yeah I'm loving the idea of the new USB-C.

I will go check out the specs of the Moto phones. Are they good with Android updates? I hate the idea of even leaving the Nexus world and pure stock Android lol.

Motorola's UI is basically stock Android with Motorola's suite of apps-- all of them useful. They usually get updates soon after the Nexus phone does.

Which article was that? I don't think I've ever heard Google discussing a future Nexus device until they've launched it. Particularly along the lines of the device being pretty or ugly or anything.

I think the leaks are what the phone will look like. I wish it looked better, but it is what it is.

yeah that actually does suck, more because I'll probably have my next phone(s) 3 years minimum .... I'm upgrading my nexus 4 and s4 to two of the three or if both 2015 nexus phones and the pure. that wasn't intentional though, I just didn't see a phone I really liked other than the nexus 5 and I don't upgrade just to upgrade. it could be 3 years, it could be 3 months depending on what's out there. that said, I don't envision there being some must have new technology that would warrant an upgrade. other than WiFi charging, some sort of micro audio (which will eventually be here, and it's amazing) or significant battery improvements, I just don't see it. so yeah, would've liked USB-C, more so for a year or two from now than this instant.

yeah they're good with the updates ... also keep in mind, at least initially, they'll be direct from Moto, or Best Buy and Amazon. it's as close to nexus you'll find, in that other than a few very subtle software enhancements, which many, myself included, actually prefer, it's the same thing as what you'll find on a nexus device. also, there's no bloatware or carrier branding, and it's unlocked.

head over to the forum and check out the sample pics. idk how important camera is to you, but I was extremely impressed. I'd have to see side by side to compare, but just by looking I'm confident to say it's at the very least slightly below S6/G4 quality, and either on par, or even better than the iPhone 6+

if somebody told me that when the phone was launched last month, I'd had thought they were lying!
