Is there any way to get rid of it? I just got my Optimus S today, and finished rooting/thunderom a couple minutes ago, so I'm not too savvy...yet.

Thanks!

There is a folder called /bootimages that you might be able to modify. But be careful, doing so could brick your phone.

I don't want to come across as an a-hole but why does everyone care about boot animations? How often do you really see it? I can understand all the hacking, rooting, rom tweaking because they normally provide useful features or upgrades but unless you sit around rebooting your phone and watching the screen does it really matter.

Again, not trying to be a ******. Just curious.

Hey everyone has that opinion on want or dont want hey I want to get the nexus one boot image but never got the help to do it but what I think is that alot of use would like to put different boot image cuz everyones phone dies youll see the boot screen if your a flasher crazyness person like me I dont want to see alot of crap and heir the noisey sounds but I would or anyone likes to enjoy watching what every they want when flashing .zips and what ect when your coming out of your recovery hey thats just my opinion

agree with OP, i want to get rid of the stock sprint animation. it's just a waste of time and it's annoying with the sounds and vibrations and such. i would really like to get rid of it if possible

Were (Team ThundeROM) also working on a custom boot animation. Not a port but our own, but we don't have a time line on that currently.

Probably wouldn't take much for someone to port some flashable boot animations. The PITA would be more of resizing the hundreds of images that go into it but that could be scripted.

I'd like to know how to get rid of the animation too. Until then I found this:
Silent Boot (In Android Market). The animation doesn't go away but at least this shuts the damn thing up.
So, now if I'm ever hiding from bad guys I can turn my phone on without giving away my location....whew

well after digging around I found that the sprint animation is located in /bootimages in the root directory, there are 15 .rle images so if anyone knows how to edit or save/convert to this format then that animation can be change

Not that easy unfortunately.

I was looking at this and the boot takes up over 4.5MB - what a waste!

It's a set of 16 .RLE's - 00 -> 15

The smallest one was 15kb - so I figured, save space.

Copy the very last one 15 times and just rename it.

At least it would probably just be a blank image and size, would be
dropped down from about 4.8MB -> 225KB - what a space savings!

But, turns out, when the device boots, it over-writes that directory.

So its stored somewhere in the NAND and would have to be hacked/replaced in there.

Guessing this would have to be hacked through ADB or console commands?

Has anyone tried the UOT Kitchen yet, HERE? I ran the Thunder rom framework through it changing some ICON's, including adding the circle battery :) For the Kitchen to work and not give a error you must select the status bar modification, according to one of the Kitchen's dev's, see HERE Anyway I changed the boot animation as well, using the CM option, system/media. Not sure if thats the correct location. I am cussing UPS as my Optimus was supposed to be delivered today but this morning I checked tracking number and they changed delivery date to monday!!! :mad: Not happy, LOL Anyway if someone wants to try and flash this they can... Nandroid, and flash at own risk! Seems max upload is 2 MB, the zip file is 2.48 MB, so HERE is direct download link from the UOT Kitchen. I hope when I do finally get my Optimus (freakin UPS!) I will be able to create and port themes as I can with the HTC HeroC. Looking at the framework it looks like it will be a bit more work, but very plausible ;) I know to much MythBusters, lol
