Hello!

My name is Captain_Throwback. I just switched from the 'Death Star' (AT&T) over to Sprint, and purchased my new device (EVO) online. It arrived on Friday, and I just have to say - WOW.

I had a taste of Froyo goodness on my old devices, the HTC Fuze & Tilt 2, because of the XDANDROID project over at XDA-Developers, a forum at which I currently serve as a Moderator (I'm also a Moderator over at Mobile Underground, another nice forum).

I'm still very new to native Android on NAND, so I definitely have a LOT of reading up to do. I hope that I can learn quickly and help others in the process as well (I was able to root pretty easily, once I used my XP laptop instead of my Windows 7 x64 one).

I've always been a smartphone-kind-of-guy - always looking for the latest & greatest devices (even when i couldn't afford them,). My first official smarrtphone was the Motorola MPx220, which got me my first taste of Windows Mobile. I liked it, mostly because of how familiar it felt (being a PC user and all). From there, I moved on to the Palm Treo 700w (the first Palm to sport WinMo, I believe). Got upgraded to a 700wx (this is when I was on Big Red), and then I became enamored with a new smartphone coming out with VGA resolution (which at the time was unprecedented). So I switched to AT&T to get my Fuze, and loved every minute of it. Eventually I got a warranty replacement, which became the Tilt 2 (as you can probably tell, I like having a hardware keyboard). But, the price of the plans being what they are, I was looking for cheaper alternatives, and Sprint's "Everything" plan seemed to fit the bill (that, and AT&T's coverage in my Home area was abysmal).

So far, I have no complaints about Sprint's coverage, or my delicious device (granted, it's only been 4 days, but I feel like this is the device I've been waiting for :D).

My plan is to give my wife my EVO in a few months, when I switch her over from AT&T, and then get my hardware-keyboard device, the HTC 7 Pro (Windows 7 device). I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it though; I'm really enjoying Android. And I'm not even really missing the hardware keyboard. After having a device with a screen this beautiful, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back. I guess only time will tell . . .

Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble on, and I'm sure I will enjoy my stay here!!
