any dreaded boot loop issues with the LG G6?

LG G6 Boot Loop issue Does Exist!

My wife and I purchased our Brand New LG G6 phones on Apr 15, 2017 from T-Mobile. On May 19, my wife's device was sent an Android Update through T-Mobile which she was able to perform successfully. On May 20, my device was sent the update and after the update install my phone went into the continuous Boot Loop and wasn't recoverable. I just picked up my Refurbished Replacement from T-Mobile today. LG Still hasn't corrected their issue obviously and now T-Mobile claims this is a "Known issue" as of 3 days ago, (actually it was 4 now).

That is not the same cause of the issue that plagued the G4 and V10. A bootloop caused by an update means that something went wrong during the update.

Must people don't even know what a known issue is including people who work for carriers.

Im hoping a T-Mobile employee didnt say this and its being taken seriously.

Last trip to the T-Mobile store I listened to the sales guy say the G6 didnt have wireless charging, waterproofing and the camera was the same one used in the iPhone 4. These were his reasons for telling the customer the S8 was the better phone. His manager agreed while I laughed out loud holding my G6.

These guys know nothing about these phones most of the time let alone the issues they have or dont have. If its an actual article released somewhere Id love to read it though.

You know what? I hate generalizations and try not to make them, but your experience is very similar to what I had when returning my S8 for the G6. When I entered the store and told the manager I'd like to return the S8 and get a G6 because I wasn't pleased with it, I got all sorts of hogwash about "We've had problems with LG phones" and "are you sure you want to do this? You won't be allowed another return." "The price drop might be an indication of something wrong."

1. The manager failed to specify what types of problems they've had with LG phones.
2. If LG phones are so problematic on AT&T why the heck are they being sold?
3. The price drop is an indication of LG trying to move their product. (Like Samsung isn't doing a BOGO on the S8 now)
4. I found the question, "Are you sure you want to do this?" insulting. As if I was going to change my mind based on 1 opinion.
5. "You won't be allowed another return." Ok, maybe not here, but I can visit a hundred other AT&T retail locations to process my return.
6. My response to the incoming Direct TV sales pitch was a polite, "No thank you." But in my mind, it was an emphatic hell to the no based on my in store experience alone.

I do my research on AC and by watching YouTubers, make a decision and then go to the store when I have to.

My apologies for the rant and going off topic, but the G6 has been an excellent device for me for the past 3 weeks.

No apologies; you're good. LG G6 is an awesome device and I haven't seen any indication that there are widespread issues with it.

I don't know about AT&T but Verizon gives you 14 days on each exchange.

Was it while using Android auto? My G6 and G5 have both rebooted when I've disconnected them from my car using Android auto. Those were the only times though

No. I haven't used AA. I cannot remember what I was actually doing as it's been a few weeks now. I'm not fretting it now as it hasn't done it since.

AT&T also offers a 14 day return/exchange period, but the way the manager made it sound is that I'm stuck with the device after switching to a different one. I verified online with AT&T and they assured me I'd have no problem exchanging it out. (Of course there is a $40 restocking fee, but really that's a small price to pay when purchasing a $700 device.)

The manager is full of it. When you exchange a unit the return period starts over on the replacement device. This is true on an even exchange if defective and exchange for for a different unit with restocking fee if you just want something different.

I have had my G6 since the day it went on sale. Gone through 2 updates and no bootloop here. I honestly other than v20 even then haven't had a better phone. Amazing battery life with moderate to heavy use and it is consistently beating my wife's s8 in battery life and even feels faster I know it's not but feels like it

Yes, this is a generalization, but I think it applies the vast majority of the time. I've often gone into a phone store, run circles around sales people, and have even had them say, "Wow, you should work here. You know a lot about phones!"

I had a friend who worked in an AT&T store, and if his knowledge of phone models was any indication, knowing the product isn't a requirement to sell said product.

After working at Best Buy for many years, I lost all trust in sales associates. Its not really their fault because management doesn't properly train them on the products. They are told the bare minimum and the primary focus is on sales, not product knowledge.

That's why I do my own research and generally know more about the product I am trying to buy than the person trying to sell it to me.

I've been combing through the G6 forums here and have yet to see anything of bootloops. I wouldn't worry too much about that - LG has acknowledged this issue and is working on it in future devices; plus if you have your important information backed up, that is always a plus. I thought I read somewhere that the G5 did not have a lot of bootloop issues - it was mostly the G4. G3 was pretty much exempt - mine never had it.

The G5 and V20 did NOT suffer from the same bootloop issues as the G4 and V10. I still have those devices with no issues and my G6 has been solid...So far.

I haven't heard of any. I hope LG solved the issue and no one runs into it.

If you're reading this, you're most likely a techie. We're in good company here and that's probably one of the reasons it's easy to frequent these forums.

We share our experiences and help each other solve problems, which in my mind, makes owning this device that much more enjoyable.

I think most retail sales people are there to guide clueless people to a decision. I would imagine for every knowledgeable consumer, there are 5 that just walk in and ask "what's the best?"

I'd bet it's way more than 5 lol.
