Any faith left for sprint

Doubtful. Highly doubtful. They won't look like dial up...

Please don't act like Sprint is the only one doing network upgrades. Everyone has been Hence everyone having better speeds now..

Sprint is the one that's been slacking... Hence the normal Sprint "it's coming.. It will.. In the future" as we always see from them.

Especially with cities like Chicago (a Spark city as I recall) and a fair amount of users reporting less than stellar coverage and speeds.

Gotta admit, Sprint sucks *** for many users in many places. It still does in 2 places that I frequent here in Miami.

But

Every other network is doing upgrades while Sprint is building a brand new Network. Trust me, in 5 years 90-120mbps is going to look like dial up ;-)

You seem to not understand they built their new network. When everyone was on 3g they built their new networks to LTE... Hence 115 Mbps in the real world (not theoretical).

Again Sprint has promised a new network before.. Upgrades.. Wimax.. Now LTE.. And now Spark.. Yet some people never saw Wimax.. Still don't see LTE... And Spark is out of the question for them..

Yet you think they are going to jump from 3g to making 115 Mbps look like dial up? You're way way over exaggerating and also just saying what Sprint has said for years "will.. Coming.. Future..". I'll believe it when I see it.. Not simply guessing and talking theoretical saying they will make a huge jump to insane speeds and make people look like dial up..

In 5 years talking pure Internet speed sure that will look slower... But that's 5 years. You think in 5 years Sprint will be the only one upgrading? No... Sorry just no... The other networks will keep up.. Just like they have been.. And we can see Sprint hasn't been.

At some point there's a point of diminishing returns at users will not benefit from an upgraded network.

What's the cutoff? 100 mbps? 200 mbps? 1 gbps?

I mean I'm all for speed and latency, but at some point if the network is beefed up enough, I'd rather they take off their silly caps and give us "unlimited" data and possibly home internet too.

Wow, I'm happy this thread stayed alive. Just wanted to give an update after my first month of usage after my switch.

First I would like to start with the hand full of guys that get decent data speeds in this thread with sprint. I'm very happy that you get great data speeds but come to my city and try to even use 2gig of your UNLIMITED data, good luck with that task. Sprint does have decent coverage around here just using data is like trying to pull teeth. I just hope you guys understand that not all sprint areas get as good of data speeds as you.

OK so after a month of at&t everything seems to be going great, I've actually doubled my data usage of the highest month ever used with sprint. That is because the data speeds are available to be used, so I actually used what I pay for, which is how it should be.
I'm seem to gain close to 1hr of battery use throughout the day. I attribute that to not constantly have low signals or always switching from LTE to 3g.
Lastly is price wise. The reason I was with sprint was for their lower prices. But at&t is now very competitive. I'm actually paying a few dollars less a month per phone with at&t, and can actually take advantage of what I'm paying for.

So all you guys getting great data with sprint, I'm happy for you. But there's dozens more not getting what they pay for and in my case the grass really is greener on the other side.

Thanks for keeping this thread alive and keep up the good discussion

I made the switch almost 3 weeks ago to T-Mobile and my Data usage went from roughly 1 gig per month on Average to pushing up past 4 gig in 3 weeks... I've actually seen slightly worse battery life but I think that is because I am now averaging 3 - 4 times more "Screen on time" because I can actually use my phone....

I never saw more than 10 Mbps with Sprint and their LTE network when I could FIND an LTE signal.... Most of the time LTE was somewhere in the range of 0.5 - 3 Mbps.... and 3G was pretty much useless.... Don't really need 100+ Mbps speeds on my phone... I have Verizon FIOS home internet and it's only 50 Mbps on average and that is enough to have 3 TV's streaming HD content from Netflix, Hulu, YouTube plus 4 cell phones and 4 tablets... Right now these high end 100 Mbps speeds are just bragging rights...

With Sprint.. I lived in Memphis, TN for 3 years, Nashville, TN for 4 years and now Dallas, TX for 2 1/2 years..... I still travel back to Nashville, TN and Raleigh, NC where I am originally from and my parents, brother and sister still live... Apparently Miami is awesome.... but I can tell you across TN, KY, NC and here in TX their LTE network is spotty at best..... As others (and I have) stated over and over again.. Sprint spends a lot of time, effort and money hyping what they are up to... I had the Original EVO and in two years with that Device (and that was the first WiMax device if I am not mistaken) WiMax was never more than a pipe dream while in Nashville, TN (Which was one of Sprints first announced WiMax cities) and was useless when I moved to Dallas..... So I took their word and upgraded to the EVO 4G LTE as they were going to build this awesome LTE network and Dallas was one of the first handful of LTE cities.... two years later still mostly worthless...

They've had all the potential in the world to build a great and amazing network but they just pump millions and millions and millions into upgrades that no one seems to be able to use often enough for their great pricing plans to be worth it....

That!
And if Sprint does ever get to the speeds that @dpham00 posted, you can bet that by then, Verizon will be significantly faster than that. They are not a company to sit by idly.

Yes, Verizon is expensive, and restrictive, and for these two reasons, I doubt that I'll ever switch my wireless service to them. But gotta admit - they have good reliable coverage, and good speeds.

Unlimited is dead. T-Mobile and Sprint use it to lure customers.. All know this. Spectrum is actually something they will eventually run out of so sadly the argument is slightly valid for them.. I just wish caps weren't so expensive. They just need to lower the price.

Now home ISPs... They have ZERO reason to complain... They can fix bandwidth issues by pumping money into their network... They make enough to easily keep it up :o.

spectrum? limited? dude sprint has so much spectrum that there is no "spectrum crunch" they have more spectrum than att+verizon combined.

ISPs? depends on your area, i have lazy, overpriced isps like comcast/att uverse in which internet is $$$$ and better not start metering. In what world do we live in where 6/1 internet for $50 dollars is "reasonable?"
If I can get a wireles isp to give me at least 15 mbps down and latency under 50 ms, and give me unlimited, I'll gladly jump ship

Spectrum will eventually run out. They have enough now sure... But in the long haul no.

I pay about 60 a month for 25/5 (comcast) ... Although I usually get faster than that on average.

I wish I got that from comcast, you must be bundled.

I'm internet only so it's either 50 bucks for 6/1 or 64 for 12/2

Probably your area. We get way better even for Internet only.

Below is my buddies wifi. It's pretty great :).

Must be another Miami 'perk'
I pay $40 for 50/12 with Comcast.
After being with Att for 2 years with 12/3 for $25.

The change was awesome.

Dial up right now isn't even usable for anything practical. People complain about edge and dial up is way slower than edge. You can't even run Pandora on dial up.

4k Netflix streaming uses 7gb/hour but that is only about 15mbps. Keep in mind phones today don't even stream on HD. With normal browsing, a 10mbps connection is adequate for smooth browsing.

Obviously anything can happen but the chances of 100Mbps being almost unusable in 5 years is highly unlikely.

I left Sprint for Att and I love using my phone even more when it woks when I need it too! I been with att now for about 5 years and I do not regret it! I say move on. If you wanna maximize your savings either buy your phones out right and/or go prepaid as well. Take a look at AIO/Cricket Wireless. They have a proxy the service is still very useable with huge data pools!

Well I meant no promo... Of course if you have a promo you can get great deals. Or either a package..

Either that or you get some kind of discount somewhere. I doubt they just offer it that cheap. I checked Orlando and the prices are about the same as Jacksonville.

I just checked comcast prices for florida (which seem pretty universal around the U.S. for their lower end services)

3/768 is 39.99 and 6/1 is 49.99 and those prices are pretty much the same around the states if you have no promo/no bundle

You guys must be subscribing to their TV, looks like they gave you guys a nice speed bump

With Comcast it depends on the package. If you mean just Internet the prices vary. I know if I log into my account and wanted just 50 Mbit with no promo it's like 65 or 70 a month.

My 25 Mbit gets a little discount due to the "double play". I won't ever get triple since.. Who needs a home phone? Lol :D.

Eeew, not what I want. Google has their hands in enough already, I don't need them monitoring ALL my traffic. But the competition from Google would be great, since it would drive down the prices and drive up the speed/capacity on other carriers.
