Any fix for Chrome slowing LG G4 home screen and general function?

I read elsewhere that there is an issue on some phones where Chrome, when active, slows down the return of the home screen after exiting any other app. I am experiencing this. When I exit an app, any app, the home screen icons take 3-5 seconds to reload. Never happened on my Galaxy S5, but it's happening on the G4. I disabled Chrome to test the theory, and indeed the phone was much faster and there was no home screen lag.

I can't delete Chrome, only disable it, but I actually like that browser. Has anyone figured out how to use Chrome and not experience this lag?

I can't help with your Chrome issue because I quit using it...too big of a battery hog. I think Google is over doing the background data collecting. It also causes my laptop cpu to churn away like a mad man. So I just left it all together, and switched to Firefox. It also lets you sync your bookmarks from pc to phone.
