Any ideas how to re-root a Samsung Galaxy S4

I originally rooted my S4 using the ODIN3 v3.07 and CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5 method.

I then unrooted, using the settings to fully unroot in SuperSU app, to try and get an official update (which obviously didn't work).

I can't seem to re-root using the same method, probably because ODIN flash is still on my phone.

Does anyone have any ideas how to re-root from here onwards?

I'd be grateful for any help. :'(

What happens when you try and follow the original instructions to root the phone? Does Odin give errors? You should be able to follow the Odin method and still gain full root access without having to run into issues.

Nothing happens. I've tried it a few times and for each I left it for over half an hour and it was hanging on "SetupConnection..."

Just got home and tried it with the official Samsung cable and it worked. Crappy 3rd party data cables!!!

Thanks for your help :D

That's good to hear. It's funny how sometimes a small thing like a cable can create issues with connecting or using software. So it's safe to say you re-rooted and are back up and running?

Yep! Updated to the new Samsung OS (with Apps2SD), re-rooted and back up and running. I did have one problem however, when I re-rooted SuperSU had failed to load the SU binary. I tried re-rooting a couplemore times but it resulted in the same. I was unsure what to do at first, but a quick Google and I managed to locate the latest version and flash it using TWRP. Not sure why that happened though.

You'll need to follow the instructions here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325

Make sure that you are one the same build as the first posted.
