Any lags on S6?

I wonder if those getting lag are rebooting every day? I always shut down at night because I do not need it on all night and can recharge. So I never have lag. Now I understand those who need their phones on all night for various reasons. However, it only takes about 30 seconds to reboot. Less time than it takes to ....wipe.... :>)so why not try that and see if it makes things better?

I too shut down every night and only wiped the cache partition after the small AT&T update. Still no issues. If you have to keep your device on all night, restart when you wake up. The device will be back up by the time you get out of bed and head to the shower.

My phone is my alarm so I need it on

I've been asking around on various forum, who is experiencing lag and redraws and who's not. I think I may have gotten closer to the answer. I bought my s6edge on the day it came out and to be honest it's never lived up to my expectations in terms of speed. I have constant redraws and plenty of stutter. I even started a thread to on XDA about redraws. Thread went cold after 2 pages.

I thought I couldn't be the only one with those redraws. Anyhoo...A friend of mine got the same phone I got, black 64gb s6 edge. He kept telling me he had no lag and no redraws. I thought he was messing with me. I saw him today and spent about 5 minutes fiddling with the phone and got nothing. No stutter, no lag, no redraw. It really put my phone to shame. It was snappier in every aspect.

Btw I took my phone to the samsung service center this morning. I told them the issue I was having and what did they do? A/S ASSY-REWORK--KIT in other words. Adhesive, yeah glue. I told them my phone lags and they fixed the glue...

Here's my point. My friend any did find a difference between his phone and mine the manufacturing date. Mine was built on 20150326 and his was built on 20150426, one month later. I think it comes down to the batch your phone is from.

I'm calling Samsung tomorrow to see if I can get a new phone.
Keep us informed. I am considering getting one soon.

I also fall under this category. Even if it wasn't my alarm I would rather my phone still be on in case someone had to call / contact me for an emergency.

How can I find the manufacturing date on my phone? And what do you mean by they fixed the glue?

My s6 lags like crazy. Pisses me off. After an update or something it runs fine for a day or so then begins to lag again.

I have to reboot every day. Otherwise after 2 days the phone becomes unusable. Also apps close quickly in the background yet RAM does not free up. Because of this, and the poor phone reception in my area, I am switching to the new Moto X pure edition in September.

*Same* exact problem here. The fact that you have to disable pretty much everything (bluetooth, wifi, location) just to make the battery last through a day coupled with the TERRIBLE RAM management in the S6... It's a loser. I can't wait for the 2015 Nexus 5 to get back on to Stock Android. I've heard great things about the budget 2015 Moto X too.

My question is, why do you need everything turned on 24/7? There is a reason why there are quick toggles, to easily turn things on and off quickly as we need them. I mean you don't keep your car running 24/7. You don't keep your lights on 24/7. You turn them on and off as you need them. Same applies to wifi, location, and etc on your phones.

Btw, Android as a whole is designed to use up RAM. It will clear up RAM when it needs more. Need to research a little more about your problems and try to address them. There are ALOT of people that doesn't have problems with their S6's.

I will give you an advise, don't go and buy a Moto X 2015, thinking that you may leave your location (I'm not even talking about the others) on 24/7, if you are one of those who think you don't need to turn things off in a phone and your phone should last all day, let me tell you something, SORRY, the way Google has changed the core services and apps, leaving Location and Location History (Plus reporting) on all the time will drain the battery no matter which device, it pings your location basically ALL THE TIME. You'll need to get a device with a 3500mAH battery (like the S6 Active) and if you are a regular user it will last the whole day, if you are a power user, with everything on (What I've described above) you will need to charge it before the end of the day, for sure.

FYI, Moto X 2014 was and it still the worst phone I've owned, talking about battery life, the most I could get on a Full charge was 4 Hours of SoT, with ALL my tweaks and not heavy usage on the 7 days I had it before the Micro USB Adapter/Charger simply blown, and then the worst nightmare I've had trying to get service from Motorola, 4 days on about 20 calls, for hours, and after i asked for a full refund, they took over 2.5 months to give me the Full refund. The new Moto X, even with that battery, for me it won't surprised anybody with a good battery life, not with that screen now.

People still complains about turning things off, I just gave up on this, it doesn't worth the time and efforts, what never ceases to amaze me are the expectations they are having with the poor optimization on Lollipop right now.

Ok so I was nearly going to buy a N4 but some people told me to hold my breath as it has some annoying lags like with the recent app button and dialer, they accused TW for that, as S6 is newer, faster and its TW is different, does it have lags too or they are ironed out?

iPhones don't have regular lag. Sometimes, very rarely, the system hangs for a few seconds, but that's extremely rare. Androids seem to have an ever present lag in their normal use. Sometimes it seems like a disconnect from the touch screen to the UI responding, other times it's just a definite slow down. iOS and Android are written in different code and android in effect is an app running an app, an emulator of sorts. That is where all this memory management and larger memory requirements come in. iOS handles memory better and requires less and the hardware has no trouble keeping up with OS needs. My Nexus 5 (and now 6p) have little to no lag and seem butter smooth, as they are. But when I take my iphone 6 for a spin now and then it's still a better experience, it just seems to flow/animate/move the way the brain feels it should. Samsungs, despite their excellent chips and large ram numbers have to deal with TW, which is the culprit. I bought the galaxy s6 edge when it came out. Gorgeous.. but that keyboard lag was unbelievable. I'd type and sometimes the pop up animation would just stop mid sentence and stay there, as if the phone froze and then suddenly after a few seconds it would quickly completely the rest of the letters which I typed while it was frozen. The same happens with the google keyboard... it's a system wide problem. Dropped frames leading to slow or jerky animations. Makes my blood boil.
